I've noticing that 8/10 of the posts here for the last have always been about The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. I've never been a fan of first person melee combat in games, since they've felt clunky like in games like Bioshock and Rage, and I've never been into fantasy games. Don't get me wrong, I love stories about Dragons, werewolves, and ogres as much as the next nerd (I love the Lord of the Rings Trilogy for example), but if it isn't Zelda, I've never liked them. I didn't like either Dragon Age games(The first had a fantastic story, but I hated the gameplay, and the sequel was the exact opposite, Great gameplay but a terrible story), and I didn't like any of the Lord of the Rings games and Two World games. I've decide to give Elder Scrolls 5 a chance, as I may purches it later today. I just want to know is it REALLY that good? With all the perfect scores it gets, I'm expecting an outstanding experience.

All I can say is... If you can look past the minor bugs, the game is really fun to play. There are a few glitches, but most of the time, they're just funny. It is a good game though. I would fully recommend it.

I love it, and it was the first TES game that I played. Didn't think I would enjoy the first person melee combat either (I would never use it in the Fallout games) but it really works here.

Plus, it's a first rate deer hunting simulator.

Yes. let me explain Skyrim in a single, slightly messed up, sentence.

Skyrim is a great game with flaws that you'll quickly forgive it for.

It is a truly awesome game, but it is not perfect. There are quite a few gameplay balance issues, the inventory system is horrible, quests glitch a lot, thanks to the latest patch dragons fly backwards, and so on. Most of these issues will be fixed in time though.

I would recommend you buy Skyrim. I truly do. But I also urge you to take all the "5 stars!" "10/10" and "100%" scores with a pinch of salt. It's a bloody, bloody, bloody good game, but it does have it's share of problems.

Not it's the worst game ever, they tried to copy COD and failed horribly.......

nah just kidding. It's a pretty good game. I was actully surprised at the melee combat, it works really well. I will give you this advice, sword/axe and shield all the way.

As for your expectations. It is a really fun game and compared to say Cod(NOT BASHING IT) or Battlefield(ALSO NOT BASHING IT) it adds a lot more to the series. If you go in with your expectations too high then you will end up focusing on the bad parts but i'd say you can expect a pretty good game when you buy it.

There is a lot you can do, i'd recommend a warrior class first but you can pretty much choose what suits your playstyle, my guy is a warrior strong enough to fight off dragons and cleanse whole forts of enemies with little effort.
My friends character sucks at combat but could sneak past GOD if need be, he can also one hit kill dragons.

It's a good game for RPing and leveling up your character how you like.

Yep. It really is every bit as good as you've heard.

Also, don't go console with it. Because then it will probably be every bit as bad as you've heard.

No, not that good. You mostly make up your own fun, which is code for "go on and mess around with the world"

That makes it sort of boring. There is no real tension to finish the main quest and when you do, it's pointless. Then again, if you thought DA:O had a fantastic story, maybe you'll like it? I thought it was pretty bad so I can't make the comparison for you.

If you get caught up with the small things to do in it, you might enjoy it. If you're only in it for the quest lines, you might be disappointed. It's basically a prettier Oblivion with a slightly better main quest.

A great game with a massive caveat emptor. Some say it's got minor bugs, I say I hope your game doesn't freeze midsave. Some say it's endearing when a dragon just up and kills itself, I say I hope your framerate doesn't become crippling after you've put half your life into the game.

Don't listen to people downplaying the bugs. Some are funny while others are very serious.

Get the PC version if you decide to buy it. You have the luxury of people patching the game and fixing things.

This is kind of a silly question. Unless you think that everyone saying it's good is just brainwashed or buying into hype, then there's probably a good reason you've been hearing so much about it, don't you think? Based on your description, it's probably not a good game for you personally, but yes, it really is an excellent game. It is possible to play an excellent game and not enjoy it, based on your personal preferences, after all.
