it wont. the PC is the 2nd most powerful gaming platform (only completely pwned by the ps3) and im talking power. not anything else. you can mod a pcs graphics card and such to exceed some 360 games, but the ps3 power chip is 23 times better than the best supercomputers available.

also, theres WoW, CS and tons of other great exclusives that people will keep on playing for a really long.
Wait seriously? that part about 23 times faster than a super computer can't be true. something that cost 20 million dollars definitely surpasses the ps3 in graphics processing. Hell isn't a good desktop more powerful than a ps3?
not that kind of supercomputer. the really really powerful ones some people buy. with a normal price of 4000$

and not faster than a supercomputer, more powerful. as in graphics n such.
How I see it power is directly proportional to speed. More power = higher fps, higher fps = faster.

How are you defining power?
i define power by how well it can handle graphics, sound, etc.
Since I don't know the numbers (texture fill rates, pixel fill rates etc.), and I don't think you do either I wont argue anymore. If you do know please link them.

The PC may not be dying out but it has certainly been sidelined in favor of we, the console playing masses.

Ok, you can have better graphics than us when your PC is fully customised etc. but a) consoles are quickly catching up in terms of graphics and b) consoles are simpler, cheaper and more conveinient.

That is the reason why you could easily be forgiven for thinking the PC is dying out as a gaming platform.
Do you guys even research your topic? It is FAR from dying. Considering how PC gaming had a revenue of 1.1 BILLION, yes, BILLION with a B, I assure all, it won't be dead for a while. Consoles may be cheaper, but consoles can't get mods and all that. I'm just glad I don't have to decide... I only need one more platform to own all of this-gen's systems, and that's the Wii, something I don't want to invest in until a game comes out that can blow me away.
I believe that the first thing I said in my post was 'The PC may not be dying'. I'm disagreeing with the notion that it is fading away yet quite a few people seemed to have panicked and misunderstood me completely (after quickly glancing over the 'quoted' section of my inbox I believe the number of said individuals is around five).

Consoles have recently become notably more popular than PC's (due to their simplicity and greater conveinience, as I said) which has caused a resulting shift in attention from the PC to console games (which is why, despite the fact that there will continue to be PC games for a while, it is an easy and understandable mistake to make to believe that they are fading from existance seeing as the PC isn't mentioned in gaming media as much as it's console siblings).

Don't forget people that console isn't singular the DS is amazingly popular but doesn't get much press if you compare it to every other gaming platform combined besides consoles have always outsold PC even the original playstation hit over 100 million units hardly a recent development.

Check out folding@home the GPU clients are much faster than the PS3 version but the most limited in what they can do and normal PC CPUs can do the most varied jobs but are also the slowest of the 3 clients.

"The university has built a supercomputer called Fastra to perform large-scale scientific computations. Fastra contains four Nvidia 9800GX2 graphics cards, that each contain two Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), giving a total of eigth graphics processors. By using these eight GPUs in parallel, the lab can obtain supercomputer performance - equal to a cluster of hundreds of PCs within a single PC, according to BatenBurg."

Shame that, as ever, it's become a PC vs consoles thread, so I'll just add that I read in Total PC gaming that PC game sales were up 18% on last year, so no, its not dying, oh and consoles are doing fine too, so no-one needs to panic and leap to the defence of any multi millionaires.
