Heh, everyone I know with a PS3 is getting rid of them, cos they only play their 360.

Myself included.
Same here. I don't think the PS3 got Mass Effect 2, so I still love my 360 #2. I've been lucky with the RRoD compared to some people, so that might contribute to why I disagree with this. I can understand where people who think the 360 is declining are coming from though.

It's the same situation here, almost every one of my friends with an Xbox has switched to PS3. And the friends who never had a console in the first place are contemplating getting a PS3 without even considering Xbox.

When i started college last year i sort of tagged onto another group of friends who were pretty much Xbox fanboys. Now even they are seeing the good points of a PS3 and some are thinking about getting one in the future.

The same is happening to me though. When i started off with the 360 and it seemed like it was on life support from the moment i started using it, the hatred started there. And i took a pretty blind dive for the PS3 which turned out to be an awesome move!

I'm becoming a lot less negative about the Xbox though. I probably wouldn't spend money on one in fear of it dieing again, but we're still in a state where most multi-platform games are originally made for the Xbox so they usually seem to run a lot better. And if i'm ever in the mood for some online multiplayer i've heard the Xbox is still better in those sort of areas.

The "better exclusives" opinion is just based on the person. As for me, I'm not interested in any of the PS3 exclusives (okay, maybe Little Big Planet). I don't mind multi-disc games or anything else; I also don't need a blu-ray player. Consoles depend on what the person wants, and if the person wants all three, then good for them, but I'll stick to one (Xbox 360) since I don't want to spend so much on games.

I also read a sales update a while ago and it says that the Xbox 360 has finally outsold the Wii since Halo 3's release, so I don't think it's on a decline.

Its not that it is on a decline, their just really has been any good games this year yet. Owning both, I play my 360 alot more because it just has more games for me to play. The ps3 for me just fills the gaps with the occasional exclusive title or game I want.

Well, here's some more data for your study:

In the past 6 months, 2 of my 360 owning friends have acquired PS3's. However, 2 of my PS3 owning friends have acquired 360's. I suppose the big thing to do nowadays is to get both, which I absolutely will not do since I don't have enough time to play all the games I want on just one console.

Also, let's keep in mind that PS3's major expected releases like Final Fantasy, Heavy Rain and God of War have JUST come out....

Mass Effect 2 is over 4 million copies, so to say the 360 is in decline would just be off. The 360's not in decline, the PS3 and gaming in general is on the rise.

You are right it is on the decline. Ever since the price cut the PS3 has been selling more weekly than the 360.
Hey Mazty! It's been a while!

The price cut was one of the smartest moves they could have done, even if it means they're getting kicked in the balls on every one. I think the surge in PS3 sales has a lot to do with the price cut but also the fact that major games are coming for it now... when the PS3 was announced, the two games you figured you would want it for, would be Final Fantasy and God of War.

It's just like when 360 was announced if you were an original XBox owner you KNEW that they would be putting out a Halo, a Fable and some WRPG's that you would just HAVE to get your hands on. One area that I feel 360 has done better than PS3 with is new IP's.... 360 has built Gears of War, Mass Effect and Crackdown into major next gen franchises.

Your friends seem to be the exception to the current trends in sales. This has been a great year so far for 360 exclusives.

Apart from Infamous, I was really disappointed by the PS3 exclusives since getting it in December and playing most of the high quality games. I still play my 360 more and would rather get multi platform games on it.
TBH the exlusives issue for PS3 has never been a big deal to me, any game thats at all decent is on all systems, the few thats exlusive has a clone on the other and most of the 360's 'exclusives' are on PC (and having a good rig means I can play them fine).
So between my PC and PS3 I can play every game I want.
Also the PS3 is more of an entertainment system to me, I use it for movie playing as much as gaming.
Yeah it would definitely make sense for someone like you to get a PS3 then. If you game on PC PS3 is the better option.

Its not on the decline, the sales are just slowing down, but as its almost 5 years old now thats to be expected. I havent seen many people cross over from 360 to ps3 but thats not to say its not happening a lot.

But personally the consoles are pretty much the same and makes no real difference which one someone has. I have both.

There are about 220 million PC owners in the world. I'm betting they care.
220 million? Where'd you get that figure? Seems awefully low to me considering the world population of 7 billion or so. Do you mean 220 million PC gamers? Even then I wouldn't know how one would get stats on that.

I wouldn't say the 360 is on the decline, the PS3 is just a little on the rise. The gap isn't that big anymore, around 6 million or so. When the next Halo hits it'll surely pick up steam and widen the gap a little more or so.

i own both but most of my friends only have a 360. i started only buying exclusives for the ps3 and getting everything else for the 360 just becausee the online play is way better on the 360... and the fucking blue tooth gives me a headache with all the background noise that it picks up from everyone playing.

More RPGs? Really? Honestly? Serious? The RPGs offered on the Xbox are laughable at best, and the ones that are good are multi-platform. They didn't get a half ass decent one till they started handing SE blank checks. Gonna laugh so hard when FFXIII verus doesn't got to Xbox or comes in 7+ disc.

Most my friends who had Xboxs, traded their ins or sold all their Xbox stuff off when they got red ring. I am one of the last to have one and haven't touched it in weeks. It's got some decent exclusives, only reason I keep it but if I have to choose, i will take PS3 game any day. It all comes down to person preference.
The 360 has a hell of a lot more JRPGS than the PS3, which I couldn't care less, since I despise them.
While Imahobbit's statement is 100% true, it's been bugging the hell out of me that a ton of people I know have been feeding me Struck's comment. I decided to do some digging to figure out why.

Blue Dragon, The Last Remanant, Lost Odyssey, and Infinite Undiscovery were the 360 console exclusive JRPG's I could find. For PS3 there were Demon's Souls(Very western in style, but made in japan...so it's title as JRPG is contestable), Valkyria Chronicles(It's a strategy JRPG), Disgaea 3, and White Knight Chronicles. I find it annoying that I have to stretch my personal definition of JRPG's to even find any on the PS3. Based on the metacritic score of these games I may have already discovered why people think there are more on the ps3, though. It's because typically the quality is better(With the exception of White Knight Chronicles, which has the lowest metacritic score of all of these games). After that, it's that the PS3 has released more JRPG's recently than the 360 has(this includes the international edition of Star Ocean 4), but not overall. It's a perspective issue right now, if people didn't have selective memories they wouldn't even consider Struck's statement close to valid.

OP: The 360 is nowhere near a decline. Since I've got mine I've loved it to death(I'll admit though, I still favor my PS3). The 360 has been selling like a beast the past few months too. No, a 360 decline is far from fact. As for why your friends think it is...grass is always greener?

I wish I had a better PC, but 'till then I'll play on 360. Not one game on my shelf is 360 exclusive.

Who cares if they're available on computers? The whole idea of exclusive games is that it makes one console looks better than the other, P.C.'s aren't in the competition.
Clearly, since PC's aren't consoles they totally don't count guys. Sorry, I don't buy that. The PC is still a rather popular platform for gaming and the source of the gaming we know today. If I can play games on it, I consider it part of this ridiculous exclusives fight.

He's referring to the US NPD numbers, which of late have really meant less and less in the grand scheme of things. The 360 outsold the Wii by like 20 or 30K Units and the PS3 by 60K in the US...however, the Wii and PS3 both sold that amount easily (60K that is), within the first two weeks of sales in Japan in the same month. So, really, take NPD with a grain of salt.
Yeah but does anyone here really give a shit about what people in Japan are playing? In all seriousness, I couldn't care less that the Japanese don't take to the 360, because I wouldn't be able to play games online with them anyways, and the same goes for anyone who speaks anything other than English. I'm not racist or anything, it's just a simple fact that if someone on your team has no mic or doesn't speak your language it makes things worse. I'm much more interested in sales trends in places that speak English because they'll have a greater impact on me personally.
