Is there a game that you were just determined to finish?

The Newest Pokemon mystery dungeon for the 3ds. I kept playing hoping at some point the story would get better. It didn't. It was not even close to good. It had maybe one or two highlights but that was it.

I guess I've been spoiled on Explorers of sky, which made me sob like a baby. But the worst part is is that the improved game mechanics were so nice (no more hunger system, shared exp, fun town building) that now I can't play the older games without wincing.

Dragon Age: Origins. In retrospect, I honestly don´t know why. The whole thing was a disappointment for me from the get-go. I didn´t really get much of the underlying mechanics, the story screamed "cliché!" from a mile away, the whole dark-and-gritty-for-the-sake-of-dark-and-grittiness annoyed me and I couldn´t seem to find that tactical aspect of the combat that supposedly reminded everyone of the good old cRPGs... yet, for some reason, I beat it till the end. And the datadisc as well. And then proceeded on to DA2 which I am actually enjoying much more.

Planescape Torment. The game itself is pretty awful and there's a horrendous combat slog for a huge chunk of the end. I was lucky enough in the ending I got was extremely satisfying and worth the slog. In retrospect though I should have just used a save editor to make the Nameless One much much better at combat.
I think I know exactly which part you´re talking about - that´s where I got stuck on my only playthrough of that game like 10 years ago... I thought "I need more healing potions (or those blood-drop-thingies that act like healing potions)" but you can´t go back and I didn´t have any save game prior to the point of no return so that was the end for me. I won´t even tell you how angry I got, I knew perfectly well how close to the end I was and I absolutely loved the game yet I couldn´t possibly finish it. Heh, I think it´s time I finally had a shot at it again :)
