how can it be rigt? it is a filth and emberecement for every strait couple that ever got maried couse it compares us to gay people same could be said for gay sex gay kissing and gays holding hands at the park as a couple
(for everyone who didnt understand THAT WAS SARCASTIC)
there is realy nothing wrong with it... i cant imagine what resnable arguments there are to be made against the rigt of two people who love each outher (gay lesbians or straits) to express theyr love in a ceremony espacialy if like in my country (israel aka "religios nuts controlled land") where it is the only way to be ligally reconized as a couple (no not religios wedings doesnt count in fact i know a few couples who arent considerd legaly maried because instead of a rabi they had the brooms grandpa to anounce theyr married...)
I was reading that, and I'm all, RAGE WARRR. Lucky you activated the /sarcasm switch. The rest of your argument is reasonably sound.
yea that was the meaning to show how stupid can people be the argument in the begining is my co students from a couple years ago i almost punched him when he said it in the discusion...
You have more restraint that I have. I kneed a guy in the balls for saying much the same thing once. He threatened to have me arrested for sexual harassment, it was hilarious.
sexual harasment? ok thats wierd and the only reason i didnt actualy punched him was cause he was my friend (sort of) and besides when it comes to gender issues he is a nice guy...
His thinking with the sexual harassment was "a gay guy touched my dick, he was trying to molest me!" which is what made it hilarious.

I could bother but i won't. You claimed that i think homosexual people made bad parents which i haven't
YES YOU HAVE: "I simply stated that same sex couple raising kids could have ramifications."
You made it sound as if a child raised by a homosexual couple would somehow be affected in some way or another. If you'd like to clarify then by all means, do so.
Yes "be affected' when did i mention parenting ability? Note use of the word could you're trying to make it sound like i directly insulted them. Any effect would be inadvertent, but it would still be there. No study has ever even attempted to examine homosexually parented kids. When they do I will state one or the other, my argument is neutral, I meant offense to no one.

Strange when I googled this last week all i got was hyper-religion How to un-gay your kids manuals. I applaud you for bringing this to me, i have been searching for reputable studies on this for a while. Although i couldn't take the actual website you linked to seriously (due to a find gay singles ad, the possibility for bias was way to high) but i checks the sources and they check out.

Yup. Which is why our headteacher laughed him out of her office when he complained about me to her. I wish she'd called me in before she did it, I'd have loved to see his face.

It was probably an ad. The site's host has to pay the bills. Also, sorry if I ever insulted you. It was not in my intention but debates can get pretty intense, at least for me.

Gay people cannot reproduce, therefore they shouldn't get married or have sex ever.

Is this your view or something you've heard ever?

That comment was... a joke.

That pretty much sums up my opinion on what will happen if gay's can get married.

The major reason why people don't want gay marriage is because they believe homosexuality is wrong. So why would they want to "encourage" it?

The best argument I've heard is that it is unnatural, the basis for this being that love is the body's way of trying to get you to reproduce, so being in love with someone of your own gender is useless. From a biological viewpoint, this kind of makes sense.

As a Christian, I can honestly say I really don't see what all the fuss is about. To me, marriage is about love. Everyone should have the right to express their love through marriage, regardless of sexual orientation.

Some people try to make pretty bad excuses, some end up being a lie. A know a girl who I'm friends with who is a lesbian, and I see no real problem with it, although I may be more used to it as I've been friends with her for a while. I don't see anything wrong with gay marriage, as I believe that it can show people's individuality.

No insult taken, but this kind of thing is the reason I avoid morality driven debate. A neutral stance is hated by both sides. If you would have opened with this link all of this conflict would have been avoided.

How is that a good or useful argument in any way, shape or form? Driving a car is unnatural, it's morally reprehensible? Invalid.

The only reason people see it as "wrong" is because it disgusts them.

People always hate and fear what they can't understand, and most straight people don't see gay marriage as love.

But no, there's not really a reason WHY gay marriage would be wrong.

Love is love.
I don't care what your religion claims.
DEAL WITH IT.

(Before reading, please note that I AM in favor of gay marriage, in case you're very thick and don't get that right away)

You might hear people go on about how "Gay marriage is wrong", and "How it shoud be illegal" and so on. But I've yet to hear an objective reason for the case. They sometimes try to justify their position with "It would hurt regular marriage", but this is far fetched at best and a flat out lie at worst.

Fortunately these forums tend to be pretty open-minded on the matter, but if you happen to disagree with me, I'd very much like to hear a good, solid, factual reason to support your position.

EDIT: Lol, I finaly caught on to the error in the title X). I originally wanted it to say "would be" instead of "is" but forgot to delete the "be".
I haven't heard anyone argue against it in ages to be honest.

One of the arguments is that it will allow non-homosexuals to marry each other to avoid tax and stuff, but then I don't really see the issue with that. No real clue.

I wouldnt consider myself a homophobe, and if i had some gay freinds that decided to get married i would attend thier wedding. however, i do not believe gay marriage should be legalised based on religious principle. that being said, i would not vote for it, but i also would not boycott it or protest it.

marriage was first a religious institution, and while it is now a governmental institution i still consider it a religious event. as my religion (christian) has marriage between a man and a woman, not a man and a man or a woman and a woman, i tend to disagree that it should be legalized. however, i do feel that a gay couple should have every right a married couple has, tax incentive wise and such.
Do people get divorced in the eyes of God too?

That's always puzzled me.

I personally see no issue with the Civil partnership, but to call it marriage is incorrect. If you want to avoid pissing off a lot of Christians, which would be necessary for the sake of a quiet existence, don't bring their name for the ceremony into it. A marriage is a marriage, no matter what you call it, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. But stop trying to plug this stupid 'gay marriage' ideal and just relent and call it a Civil Partnership.

Personally I don't care what it's called, but there are an obscene number of people, people of all faiths, in this world that will see this as a high-jacking of their special religious ceremony and if those who strive for homosexual equality rise to this and get involved in a flame-war then it just proves that we can be just as petty as they are.

Marriage is just a word, it's the sentiment behind it that matters.
