I am asking cause i didn't expect to meet so many ppl in this forum who hate Nintendo for their own reasons, im not one of them, actualy there isn't any company out there that i hate,
its only natural that i dislike some video games but thats just a matter of taste, i wanna see if there are people in this forum that they want to play a new zelda game, mario, smash bross etc or is it only me and 2 or 3 more,
so if you like Nintendo then why do you like it ?

I think most gamers like Nintendo, or at least don't hate them. Forums will screw with your perception of groups because the ones with the strongest opinions will jump up first to share them. So if like 30% of gamers like Nintendo and 30% of gamers don't care one way or the other, while that technically means 60% of gamers like Nintendo it doesn't seem like as many because the 30% who don't really care aren't going to jump up and make much of an argument. And the 30% who dislike or hate them will almost always jump at the opportunity to share their grievances. In fact, these days Nintendo seems to be the one console maker and game publisher you can like without having to "pick a side," as it were. It seems with the Playstation and Xbox you have to be on one side or the other, because their consoles are so expensive and polarizing. But with Nintendo their consoles are so cheap and accessible you can have a 3DS and a PS or a Wii and an Xbox without breaking the $500 mark.

As for my opinion on Nintendo, I guess I like them, though I've never bought many of their products. Not that I don't like them, just because I grew up in a Playstation house and buying handheld consoles became more difficult when I got to the age where I had to buy them myself. They make quality products and games and sell them at a reasonable price, and insulting and belittling gamers isn't a part of their marketing strategy, so I have no reason to dislike them.

No. There are others, myself included, who are looking forward to the new releases of Nintendo first party franchises.

However, that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed in the lack of third party titles coming to the WiiU.

Are there lots of people who hate Nintendo? There's certainly a large amount of hate for the likes of EA, and recently Microsoft, but Nintendo? I think the popular disposition is one of apathy, really. Nintendo's target audience doesn't quiiite line up with the majority of this board it would seem.

As for me, I like some things about Nintendo and dislike others. They are stalwart guardians of offline multiplayer and that's just dandy. But the Wii was a sore disappointment for me. Could do better.

But then again, I don't really give a shit. Apathy, see?

No, stahp it. This has got to be the most inane and useless comic ever made by those guys, and overused on these boards to the point of idiocy. This thread doesn't even have the phrase "Am I the only one," and even if it did "Am I the only one" is a figurative phrase that is NEVER meant to be taken literally. It's just a hyperbolic phrase, like "costs an arm and a leg" or "bored to death." If you truly believe somebody who asks "Am I the only one" is actually concerned that they are literally the only person in existence who feels the same way they do, then the one who needs to be belligerently corrected is YOU.

Now excuse me, I need to go shut my window. It's raining cats and dogs and I don't want them getting in and pissing on my carpet.

thank god i never picked a side, besides nintendo's consoles i own sony's consoles too cause im only a fan of good games or i should better say games that i like and not a fan of a specific company, it's just that i saw 2 threads with the word of hate for Nintendo and many ppl in it that they were bitching and couldnt understand why some ppl likes Nintendo, i just wanted to say that its a matter of taste but the never ending bitching went on :p

I like Nintendo. I appreciate that they offer something distinctly different from Sony/Microsoft. I like Japanese games, so I appreciate that they have so many. Having said that, at this point I'm only interested in getting the 3DS (I have a Wii, haven't bought Wii U.) I would buy a Wii U if they had more games I was interested in (mostly RPGs) but those are on the 3ds. I'm not into the old school stuff (Mario etc) because I didn't have a NES growing up, but I appreciate that they are still offering that.

I've pretty much grown up with Nintendo. My first console was the US launch SNES with Super Mario World bundle my Papa got me for Christmas when I was like 3-4, I let my big cousin play the games on it so I could watch since I couldn't quite get the higher levels. My parents got me my first handheld, a gameboy color, along with Pokemon Gold (the first game I played all by myself and beat) and it helped me and my sister (who got one and Silver to go with it) and brother bond as kids and further launched my brother and I into gaming. Nintendo has been a lot of firsts for me and my family and I will never forget the good times I've gotten with this company. Even when I did get into buying a PS2 in 08 and eventually the PSP, PS3 and Vita I still got every Nintendo handheld since the GBC because they always had stuff I wanted to play.

*slow clap*

thank you for that, that was quite enjoyable to read :)

OT: As much as I despise it, I'll jump on the nintendo defense force this time...

*morphs into action*

In my childhood, nintendo was my favorite system for the most part, from mario to zelda to conkers bad fur day to mario kart to super smash bros, it satisfied all the needs I ever had and there are quite a few great memories they've given me.

so no, I don't hate nintendo, I don't think I ever will, and I can honestly say I like some of their business practices and I do enjoy alot of their games.

While I don;t hate them, they're not particularly relevant to my gaming interests anymore.
I'm indifferent mostly. They have the path they wish to pursue, and that's fine.

I feel like I'm obliged to hate them because I was a Sega console fanboy growing up and didn't get my first Nintendo console until the GameCube in 2004. Hell I had the mighty Dreamcast! >:D

OT: Okay in all seriousness no, I don't hate Nintendo, and despite what some of the NDF say most of this forum does not hate Nintendo. Many of the people who reply in these type of threads say they are either indifferent to Nintendo or end up either saying that they either a) don't like some of their business practices and or b) they remake the same game. While I don't agree that they make the same game, I find that they put way too much promotion onto their main games and don't really promote their other games as much. Case in point, I've never seen a single TV ad or anything for Xenoblade Chronicles and I know a lot of people who don't know what it is because we always see the advertisements showing the same characters. All I'm saying is give some other people the spotlight, I mean they did for Kid Icarus Uprising which I liked, but I've also seen little to no advertising for Fire Emblem down where I live.

But one huge problem that I have with Nintendo is region-locking as it is arbitrary and serves no purpose in this day and age besides restricting gamers, and that's something I've not liked. Also, their digital download policy is not good when compared to others and needs to be fixed as well, although I've heard they are going to be working on that now that the Miiverse thing is up.

I like Nintendo. I've had a handheld nintendo console each generation since gameboy pocket. Been less consistent with their home consoles, but have just recently aquired a WiiU as I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming games.

The reason that I like them is a fairly simple one: I enjoy a lot of the games that they make. I disagree with some of their practices like region locking, and I do wish they'd make a home console capable of attracting if not supporting more third party development, but they're fairly minor gripes in the grand scheme of things.

Also I would imagine that if their consoles gained sentience they'd have the personality of adorable, over excited puppies. Which I find appealing.

I don't like any corporation, Nintendo included.

There's some Nintendo games that I like, like Super Mario 3, Kirby's Adventure, and Wind Waker. But Nintendo to me is just a faceless company like Sony and Microsoft.

I've been at The Escapist for probably about a month and I've already seen too many "like/hate Nintendo" threads to count on my fingers.

But about this question, I love Nintendo. They've always had the most interesting consoles, their first party games are some of the best out there and they make an effort to keep their customers satisfied.

The main reason that I love Nintendo is the 3DS, I bought that thing at launch because I wanted a new handheld console, but after it came out, there were no games on it! I was annoyed but I just played what had. Then one day I went on the internet and saw that Nintendo were giving out twenty free games to anybody who bought the system early. The fact that they thought to do that makes me love them so much.

Before when I was a kid I used to like Nintendo and Sony equally. However now it's just primarily Nintendo.
Mainly because it's one of the very few game companies that still do local multiplayer (with the 4 screens). When I go into a house party and they have a Wii, 9/10 all the kids will be taking turn at Mario Party/Kart/Bros or SSB. We all have a blast.
That's something I haven't seen from Sony since the days of platformers like Spyro, and Crash.

Yeah, they have their own problems. However that is not really with their IP, which if you look at the other two do the exact same thing. They just happen to be younger than Nintendo.
Main problems come with their pricing for much older games, and Nintendo of America's refusal to localize games that are in high enough demand.

Recently I've also come to also appreciate the fact that they don't try to cheat you out of money.
Fire Emblem made a pretty penny off of their DLC alone. When asked if Iwata is going to implement them in every game, he said that he isn't going to do DLC if it doesn't benefit the game. As such Animal Crossing probably will just have free DLC like Pokemon, and Super Luigi U is a DLC with basically two new characters and 80+ levels.

Edit: On that note, can we please dial back on the Nintendo threads? We already have two Nintendo "hate" threads active already. Let's not add on to that.

I like Nintendo, especially nowadays because of the WiiU. I appreciate what they're trying to do and really hope more developers use the console they have at their disposal. I don't care if it runs at 60FPS, give me something innovative.

Yes. Have you considered having an optical evaluation? There are THOUSANDS of people who like Nintendo.

Personally I like Nintendo because their consoles don't overheat, they make some fun and some interesting games, they're willing to take risks with new technology, they have nothing against used games, they have backwards compatibility and they basically saved gaming a long time ago.

But not enough to even touch my petty hatred on account of taking MH Tri when it was going to be multiplatform. Then of course there's region lock and the fact that their new technology rarely does anything more than spawn a horrible game mechanic in an otherwise decent game, or a collection of stupid "Drink the water" "Do 50 pushups" games, and their region locking + refusal to localise, and the fact that they make it virtually impossible to catch all the Pokemon if you live outside of Japan.

I think people are more annoyed at Nintendo...why can't they play nice with 3rd party developers? Why didn't they try to buy-back Rare? Why is it taking them so long to release good games on the Wii U (physical and Virtual Console). We understand the need to get kids to like you but we started liking you when we got our NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, etc and, have grown up now so please continue catering to me and not my younger siblings AND ESPECIALLY NOT MY GRANDMA, WHAT EVEN THE HELL!?

Seriously though I like Nintendo. I like the consoles and how, out of their competition, you don't hear about console explosions from over-heating or, variously colored lights of doom. The handhelds offer a ton of games and the DSlite has possibly the largest library of games out of any other console in general.

I got my Wii U on launch day and am part of the Ambassador Program. Other than those I've been putting in a lot of time on my Gamecube as well and sometimes even struggle through NES game levels on my top-loader. My SNES and N64 need more love...but my N64 has Harvest Moon...and I think I may have an addictive gene...

I got Pokemon White before day one (ie: I imported it when it released in Japan) and watched serebii's event section like a hawk up until the Black 2/ White 2 announcement...yet in that span of time NOT ONCE was there a freaking Genosect event. Why bother putting a Pokemon into the game if you weren't planning on making it available until the next game releases!?

I love my DS, and hence Nintendo too. I like being able to just pick up my little handheld and play a bunch of often unique games. I like console and pc games too, but my DS is what I spend most time on, because it's so accessible.

I like Nintendo for having their own ideas and acting on them, rather than Microsoft and Sony both making the PS460 and Playbox One. The Wii and the Wii U are unique ideas and the former was quite successful. I don't like the Wii's controls and I'd imagine that I'd hate the Wii U's controller, it just seems like a DS but one of the screens is your television. I'm aware that because of this Nintendo's put pressure on third party support, and from their three exclusives I don't like many Mario games and I'm not really into the whole Zelda thing.

I suppose I just respect them for trying to be innovative in times like this, and not just create television and social networking sets which happen to look like game consoles. Just because the innovative ideas don't work doesn't mean that they're bad or anything.
