I like Nintendo and have done since the NES days.Why?Well..

- Their games are good.My opinion of course but the likes of Mario(and his various spinoffs),Zelda,Metroid,Starfox etc have delivered some of my favourite games over the years

- They don't rush games.Nintendo have always adhered to the idea that a game will be released when it's ready. This means their games are usually highly polished and bug/glitch free

- They release quality hardware. It's not too often you hear of Nintendo consoles breaking. My N64 and Gamecube still work perfectly

- They're one of the few companies that care about local multiplayer/co-op

- They're the only one that now has full backwards compatibility and free online multiplayer

So yeah I like them. That's not to say I don't criticise them when I feel it's necessary though

Case in point, I've never seen a single TV ad or anything for Xenoblade Chronicles and I know a lot of people who don't know what it is because we always see the advertisements showing the same characters. All I'm saying is give some other people the spotlight, I mean they did for Kid Icarus Uprising which I liked, but I've also seen little to no advertising for Fire Emblem down where I live.
To be fair how many ads do you see for JRPG's that aren't Final Fantasy?

But not enough to even touch my petty hatred on account of taking MH Tri when it was going to be multiplatform.
You really got to let this go man.As you said yourself it's petty. Also MH Tri was never multiplatform.Just like every other game in the series it was going to be a Sony exclusive. So all that happened is it went from being an exclusive on one console to an exclusive on another

Why didn't they try to buy-back Rare?
You know when they sold Rare that a lot of the original staff responsible for the classics like Goldeneye etc had already left the studio.I think it's pretty clear looking at Rares decidedly average output since then that the studio is a shadow of it's former self.Buying Rare back wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint.Buying Rares IPs would be a much more sensible thing to do but I can't imagine MS letting the like of Banjo-Kazooie go cheaply

I'm happily willing to admit my Nintendo fanboyism, I like all three big console developers(Microsoft and I aren't on the best terms right now), but Nintendo's games and messages appeal to me the most. I appreciate that they focus on making games the most fun they can be even if it means sacrificing story, graphics, etc.

Even though it may look like there are a lot of Nintendo haters on the site, most posters seem to be apathetic or fair to Nintendo. Plus not every gaming forum has an authentic Nintendo Defense Force like we do.

i wanna see if there are people in this forum that they want to play a new zelda game, mario, smash bross etc or is it only me and 2 or 3 more,
so if you like Nintendo then why do you like it ?
You can just look at my avatar and username and know I'm ALWAYS looking forward to the next Zelda game. :D

Nintendo is still the only company I'm willing to buy a console from each generation, with me traditionally choosing the Microsoft or Sony console later on. I haven't bought their handheld devices since they changed from the Gameboy to the DS, but I still don't rule it out as a possibility. With Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros., Monolith Soft (developers of Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii), Donkey Kong, the inevitable Nintendo-exclusive Sonic game, and a few other games that come out, they're pretty much guaranteed to have the best lineup of exclusives. If they had better third-party support, there would be very little reason to buy any other console, unless you prefer Sony's exclusives, or if you're a Halo and/or Gears of War fanboy.

Not to mention, Nintendo doesn't get bogged down in subscription-based online, DRM, and anti-used-games policies. Microsoft even insulted them for their level of consumer friendliness. Not to mention, they still focus on delivering quality experiences, rather than focusing on the greatest graphics technology is capable of delivering (though their games still look good due to good artwork and aesthetic choices). Yes, it has begun to feel like they've started running out of ideas lately, but their games are still fun and filled with personality, and there is at least generally a minimum three year break before you get a game from the same franchise again (at least if you're only on their home console) rather than a yearly release cycle.

I like Nintendo. Always have. My first console was the SNES and my first choice of console in every succeeding generation has always been theirs.

Nintendo just always manages to release high-quality games. True, it would be nice if they released some new IPs but contrary to what a lot of people claim Nintendo do innovate with their current franchise and all the new installments they have coming up has me excited.

Of course people like Nintendo, that's basically the label on any child's first real video game or game console. Just because they reuse old franchises doesn't mean they don't try anything new, it just means they know where to put their money. Besides everyone here has idolized or related with one Nintendo character at one point in time. I know for a fact that almost everyone here who has an older brother can relate to Luigi or at least like him more than most Nintendo characters.

Nintendo is where any gamer goes to start down this path, they don't dive in Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed; you start off with a small and simple platformer, like Mario and work your way up. The people who hate Nintendo, I have no idea why. To be perfectly honest, Nintendo is the childhood equivalent of Disney (Anyone quotes me and adds a racist comment about Disney will be flagged, you're not witty, you're a tool).

I love Nintendo, I still do and still will. I'll be buying those games for years, but right now I'm waiting for the Zelda game where Zelda is the hero.

I don't waste my time with hate. If I don't enjoy something it usually just gets regarded with indifference. Speaking of difference: that is why I think Nintendo is good to have around. They offer variety and contrast to the rest of the market. I don't personally own any recent Nintendo consoles but that's mainly because I have to be careful with cash, so when given the choice I stick to maintaining & upgrading my PC.

I am a lapsed Nintendo fanboy, the SNES, N64 and Gamecube were great consoles with great games. I loved the original Gameboy, it was the console that got me into The Legend of Zelda games, Links Awakening will always have a special place in my heart. I have some tax refund money to play with so I was thinking of buying a 3DS with it now that it has some games I want to play (Luigi's Mansion 2, Fire Emblem, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Animal Crossing).

However, I am pretty annoyed with the fact that Nintendo at the moment are far too interested in trying to be innovative rather than filling their consoles with excellent and interesting new games. I wanted so much to like the Wii, I thought they would do amazing things with the motion sensor technology. What did we get? Nothing but mini game collections which in the end pushed me into the arms of Sony so that I could play the games I wanted to.

If Nintendo were to make a console that I could play with a normal control pad, I would buy it tomorrow. But until the stop pretending to innovate and properly support their consoles I am probably not going to buy another one of their home consoles...until they release the new Zelda game that isn't a Wind Waker re release...God damn it Nintendo, why can't I quit you?!?

I like Nintendo, becausr they make games that I really enjoy and I like a lot of their second-party games, too. I love Zelda, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade was maybe the best RPG of the generation (J or otherwise). I kinda like Mario, though it's not my favourite platformer franchise. I just know that when I buy a Nintendo system that there'll be a ton of games that I love on it. My 3DS is gonna bankrupt me this year!

Technically Kingdom Hearts just has Final Fantasy characters and I saw those ads a lot. But here's a better example, Professor Layton. There are almost never any Professor Layton ads down here and that makes me sad because those games are awesome. I also never saw any advertisements for the A Boy and His Blob remake nor any ads for the Klonoa game on the Wii. My point is that ads depicting other characters and their games would be nice. I also never saw any ads for Other M, but I'll let that one slide because the less people that know about that game the better I say. XD

Is this another thread asking why people hate Nintendo? Sheesh.

I can answer your question. They don't. Stop pretending that they do.

At worst, I think people here are ambivalent towards Nintendo. Or just don't buy their consoles for other reasons. I don't buy them as I can't rationalize buying a console for just one or two games. So I buy a console with games I do want and more third party support. I don't hate Nintendo. I don't like them either, though I do have a twinge of nostalgia for games like Super Mario 3.

Of course there is a Nintendo Defense Force that is active in the forums. But I think even they are getting fed up with the number of these "Why do people hate Nintendo?" threads.

Now, let's get back to things that matter. Like why Xbox One sucks. Or what game character you have a crush on. Something important.

I like them!

I wait 4-7 years for a new big Zelda game and start getting info on the new one as soon as anything is leaked.
Mario isn't as fun for me anymore, didn't get Galaxy 2, not sure but I didn't really enjoy the first one. I'm more of a papermario guy, those games are fun! And maybe now and then when I'm out of gaming I'll get one of the newer platformer Marios to have something to play.

Metroid is something I wait for anxiously as is a new StarFox game!
We already now there'll be a new SmashBros so that's in my WiiU as soon as it hits the stores.

When it comes to the Wii motion controlls I am one amongs Nintendo fans who didn't have anything against the motion controller and I love the WiiU pad, works so well but it isn't as much (if any) moving as the WiiMote was, which is a good thing I guess.

Then they make great games otherwise too like Xenoblade, Tales of Symphonia, Last Story etc (JRPGs I know but I'm a fan :p) and those are just Wii era games (well symphonia was GameCube but a second was published).

And it seems like it'll be easier to port games to the WiiU from the other consoles so if we're lucky we'll get good games which also are on the PS and Xbox, they already ported some games from the PS3/Xbox360 so I've been playing a lot of those lately.

I used to love Nintendo, but lately I feel more disappointed with them. I don't mind a sequel to Mario and Zelda, but it feels like they've been getting lazy with their franchises. They're still really polished, but it feels too safe for lack of a better description. Also, motion controls. Hate them. Passionately. Have yet to play a game where I feel like it couldn't have been improved by just using a regular controller.

Professor Layton ads were common enough here iirc.As for your other examples A Boy and his Blob was developed by Wayforward and published by Majesco while Klonoa was developed by Paon and published by Namco Bandai.Nintendo had literally nothing to do with the development or publishing of those games so why would you expect them to pay for the advertising. That should be the actual publishers responsibility. If Majesco or Namco chose not to market those games much it's hardly Nintendo's fault is it

I don't think many people hate Nintendo at all. What you're confusing for hate is just getting tired of them making the same game over and over. Just because Mario U wasn't very innovative doesn't mean it's a bad game, and I don't hate it individually, I just wish Nintendo did something a bit crazy outside of their console hardware for once.

The company itself? Well, honestly I don't know enough about their practices to criticize them. I've never seen them enforce DRM or DLC, but it's true enough that they do enjoy pumping out sequel after sequel. I often find myself enjoying their games regardless of whether it's the first or thirty-first entry into a series though. I can honestly say there's never been a Zelda game I haven't enjoyed.

No, stahp it. This has got to be the most inane and useless comic ever made by those guys, and overused on these boards to the point of idiocy. This thread doesn't even have the phrase "Am I the only one," and even if it did "Am I the only one" is a figurative phrase that is NEVER meant to be taken literally. It's just a hyperbolic phrase, like "costs an arm and a leg" or "bored to death." If you truly believe somebody who asks "Am I the only one" is actually concerned that they are literally the only person in existence who feels the same way they do, then the one who needs to be belligerently corrected is YOU.

Now excuse me, I need to go shut my window. It's raining cats and dogs and I don't want them getting in and pissing on my carpet.
Agreed. A prime example of Escapist circlejerking. It's just a phrase, like when people say "literally" even when something isn't literal, yet people go out of their way to point fingers and shame someone for using it.

Well I doubt very many people actually hate them, from everyone I know personally they just aren't interested in what Nintendo offers because it's all still very much for children and only a spit away from what we were playing 15-20 years ago, not to mention their odd decision to still charge triple A prices for that.

But gamers grew up now and they are averaging 30+ years so much like their teddy bears Nintendo gets to go in the attic.

Oh I know there are games that Nintendo don't really advertise.Fortune Street is a perfect example here too.I was merely wondering why you were bringing up games like A Boy and his Blob and Klonoa which have nothing to do with Nintendo other than the fact they were both released on Wii

Eh I've seen Sony and MS advertise for games that they didn't publish. Heck even showing the game is still some type of advertisement and can show that there are other options out there. But now that I think about it, there really haven't been any ads from Nintendo really down where I live. The only ones were Lego City Undercover and a bunch of Dream Drop Distance. Other than that nothing, not even anything for New Leaf on the TV around here. :/
(please note I have New Leaf and am currently playing it)
