If some people like reading it then good for them. It's different, it's not my thing and there isn't anything wrong with it to the point of yelling "Ban this filth!"
Having been part of the UK anime community, I've known all sorts of people with a wide varying field of interests between them when it comes to their own particular vices and pleasures.
If people enjoy it and they're not insistent on ramming it down your throat (which never actually happens from my personal experience) then leave 'em to it. It's not doing anybody any harm really...it's just not my thing and I don't intend to start a hate campaign against it anytime soon

In all seriousness OP people don't have to like everything. If everyone liked gay sex / love then everyone in the world would be gay or bi.
People can not like something - doesn't make them a 'homophobe'.
I also think there's a bit of irritation that most yaoi fans seem to be women. But i think in general most people aren't exactly into same sex pairings.

Like most straight males on this site. I have no problems with your porn just don't show it to me.
Also, as for the reason guys are turned on by lesbian porn (aside from the obvious 1 + 1 = 2) it's because it's easier to imagine the viewer joining them (they often look at the camera longingly).

The problem with Yaoi is the same as with any other kind of porn: It doesn't portray real people in a real relationship but oversexed caricatures and stereotypes. It's literally gay porn for women (and mostly BY women, for that matter).
If you can deal with that, there's really no other problem. The real issues only come when people start to believe that this is really how gay relationships work -- which probably happens depressingly often, going by the kind of socially maladjusted person who would write this stuff.

The only problem I have with it is that Newspapers and Bookshops see it as more then it is. And as a result people like me go into a Blackwells, go into the manga section and BOOM!!! Gay porn. Alot of it is not even that graphic, its just love stories. But then of course Yuri (girl girl love) is just perverted sex for us lonely otaku's so gets less then a 10th of the publisity. All of it, be it Yaoi, Yuri or plain old fashioned Straight romance manga is just that, romance stories, chances are you can enjoy any of it but you are just as likely to feel uncomfortable reading it so dont feel like a freak. Personally I have not read any but I did read Kimi Kiss Various Heroines (straight romance stories from the perspective of the girls) and I really liked it. It was one of the only stories that ever made me go "aaaawwww"
its gay porn so yeah pretty much...though unlike real gay porn the major purchaser and fan of Yaoi is teenage girls and female anime fans...who'd have thunk right?

its not so much the yaoi itself so much as the fangirls making countless amounts of bad fanart and fanfiction(particularly the fanfiction,) in many cases burying the good stuff under waves of crap! Its just wrong nyoro~!
