With all the threads about how the new Xbox one will destroy gaming is there anything the console has done right? Here is the things I can think of:

Bring console power up to the ability of present PC gaming systems

Fully intergrate the home media system revolution that has taken place over the last decade or so

Thats it, can anyone think of anything else that the Xbox One has done right?

Finally got around to using Blu Ray...um...

I think it plays games too...for at least 23 hours.

I'd say the controller too.
The cloud-powered feature seems a lot like patching to me. I don't see why developers would take their time and revamp anything else beside bug fixes, but might turn out interesting. We'll see.

Same here, I kinda liked the idea of the feedback triggers and I've always preferred the 360 controller. Though I heard it still requires batteries rather than coming with a rechargeable battery pack and I know with the other Xbox One problems that's nothing but still.

Games being available as digital downloads day-one is a godsend, considering the glacial pace it takes for many games to be on there with the 360.

I also like the Skype integration as it means I could talk to friends that are on PC whilst I would be on the Xbox One.

I also agree with the controller, it just seems to make my second favourite (behind the Gamecube) controller even better with some neat little improvements.

I would think its it too early to say- we have not heard about the games line up yet. With that being said, something they COULD do right is change their policies about always on, and used games before release.

I also think the new kinect has some pretty awesome tech in it, if it did not have to be plugged in for the xbox to work.

Has it done something right? You bet ye! Now I can't wait to see it fail miserable as it crashes and burns come release. Seeing Xbox boot itself out of the console wars by its conceitedness, stupidity, and disrespect towards its audience sits quite RIGHT with me! This is going to be better than when the horrendous sales of Daikatana and the debacle at Ion Storm Dallas made John Remero its *****!

It isn't this hunk of junk:

...I don't really know. Even the controller looks normal, nothing new about it. And I have no friggen clue what a force trigger or feedback trigger or whatever they're calling it does. I will say that those grips look comfy as a kitten though.

Same. From what they showed, it seemed like quite an improvement over the 360 controller and could be really good.

It hasn't killed babies... yet.

But seriously, I have no fucking clue. I can't name anything in it's favor that I care about, or that the other next gen (or even current gen) consoles don't do equally well.

It's just a walking punchline for the time being.

The pad, It seems to be an improvement over the 360 slim pad, I just hope the d-pad is good as I'm sick of stock console pads with crappy dpads, It's like they do it on purpose to force retro gamers to buy MadCatz peripherals. Considering all the unused space on the front of the pad it could have done with more buttons imo as I'm getting sick of 101 actions all mapped to a context sensitive X button, or FPS games limited to carrying 2 weapons and any time.

The fact you can connect a usb cord is a big plus for us guys who prefer lag free gaming and hassle free PC gaming.

EDIT

There's also the issue that we don't know fully what Sony is doing for their DRM, as atm we are comparing the X1 to the 360, but what we really need to be doing is compare it to next gen tech.

Atm we only have Steam / PC to compare to and if you do the X1 is much more consumer friendly in regards to it's DRM, atleast you can sell your games for cash compared to Steam which only has trading for unused games that haven't been tied to an account. Also the X1 allows 1 other family member to log on with another X1, steam doesn't have that.

That said I doubt I'll be getting one as I don't play sports and console FPS don't want to be forced to pay and use Kinnect, I'd rather have the extra horsepower like the PS4 does.

Another good thing about the X1 is that MS points are getting the axe and MS won't be stealing from PAL and JPN devs by paying the in $ rather than the currency the customer used to buy the points (thats why MSPs are region free). With MS pocketing a hefty % of UK and JPN bought games. That should atleast make niche XBLA priced games worth devs time.

Dunno if MS (and Sony) are scrapping some of the insane hoops that XBLA / PSN devs have to jump through to get their game patched, like file size limits and $10k per patch charges on 360/PS3.

Apart from that, nope.
Yeah, I'm sure as hell excited for Killzone: Shadow Fall and Infamous: Second Son, not to mention a new 3D Mario and Sonic Lost World!

I might get one of those controllers for my PC. But other than that, the one good thing that it did is give me one less console I need to buy this gen. Thank you, Xbone, for saving me a couple hundred dollars.

I don't even know I would give them that much credit for those things. The first one isn't completely true, PCs still have higher potential than the X1 (though most PC gamers have machines about on par with the X1 stats, so I can see where you are coming from with that one). The second one is less about them doing right, and more about them spending money putting things in a console that we don't need. Those features will only serve to increase the manufacturing costs, and as an effect the costs to us as consumers, on top of being a feature that we don't need. Most people have either some form of Digital DVR or some form of Smart TV, Roku, or internet ready device that interacts with the television. So the only purpose those features serve on the Xbox is to make it seem like it does so much stuff that you need it as the centerpiece of your entertainment center, when in reality it is just fluffware.

The kinect might actually work reliably this time.
Also a rumble feature for each individual button of the controller seems nice.
Sounds like more precise haptic feedback than a nonspecific, omnidirectional vibration will be going on there.

Beat me to it.

Seriously, I think Nintendo might've paid MS to make themselves look bad.
