Is there one upcoming game you're desperately hoping lives up to its hype?

As per the title, is there one upcoming game that sounds so good on paper that you'd be really crushed if it doesn't turn out like the picture the developers have painted in your mind? Maybe it's the only game of its type on the horizon, or you've been waiting for it for years.

For me, it's Project Eternity (also, I really hope that is indeed a placeholder name). I've played plenty of new releases, but the best games I've played in the last few years have been the old isometric RPGs I found on GOG... Baldur's Gate 1+2, the Fallouts, Arcanum, etc. And just a couple of days ago I finished playing through Planescape: Torment, which actually lived up to its significant hype and far surpassed it in my mind.

Now, I want some more, and this is the most promising upcoming RPG as far as I'm concerned. I didn't much care for the Neverwinter Nights games unfortunately (and a lot of these guys worked on NWN2), but I've got high hopes for Project Eternity. If nothing else, at least it definitely won't have the pain in the ass 3D camera of the Neverwinter Nights games. Almost every single thing they've said has made me want it even more. If it sucks, it could be a long wait for another game in a similar vein.

Yeah, pretty much any of Obsidian's upcoming projects I'm hoping will live up to expectations.

In the shorter term future though, Rome 2: Total War, dear god I hope it lives up to the hype. I'm really hoping it will be the best instalment in the Total War series so far.

Honestly, it has to be Kingdom Hearts.

How long ago was the last game?

A couple actually, Project Eternity, Torment: Tides of Numenera, and Banner Saga spring to mind as games I'm desperately hoping live up to expectations... and then there's this:

I want it so much. I loved Bastion, and this looks even better.

Uh, Dragon Age III or The Witcher 3, please. Either one would be nice, but preferably both.

2013 feels like it's been an RPG drought. To the point where I've been replaying DA:O and Legends of Grimrock. Hopefully at least one of these turns out to be really good; I've got a major itch that needs scratching.

Like... a year ago? Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance for the 3DS is... well is damn near a numbered title and greatly moves the story forward.

OT: Final Fantasy XV. Damn that game looks so good. Six years of waiting... I hope it is good!
I meant like the last core installment.
Not the bazillion offshots and backstories that riddle the Nintendo DS.

The only game I'm looking forward to right now is Hotline: Miami 2 Wrong Number and I'm really hoping it exceeds the first game. It looks really neat so far, not to mention the soundtrack which is shaping up to be just as good [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ME2QOCVtCdM] if not better [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXzs9ip-Czs], and from what I've heard from dev interviews it's supposed to have a breadth of emotions which point towards a more compelling story. Sounds'wonderful.

The only "Offshoot/Backstory" game would be 358/2 and it has arguably the best single story out of all of them. While Coded was just a phone game and I have yet to actually play that one so I can't say.

However, the rest of the games all add greatly to the core story and are not "Backstory" or "Offshoots". Birth by Sleep was even considered "Kingdom Hearts 0" by Tetsuya Nomura. Chain of Memories, Dream Drop Distance are both major parts of the story and move it forward.
Then if they are all moving the story forward, why is the next game called Kingdom Hearts 3? Because that would imply all the games that came out in between the release of KH2 are either expanding on something within the story, or are off branches focusing on other aspects of the series.

Thief. God damned Thief. It's been about 10 years since the last one, and I thought the franchise was dead for sure. Prospects are looking a little grim with the inclusion of quicktime events, so I'm really down on my knees praying for it to be good.

To a lesser degree the new Phoenix Wright game. There was quite a bit I disliked about the Apollo Justice story, and while bringing Phoenix back to the forefront is a good start, I really hope we don't have any more stupidity like Klaiver Gavin or the Gramyare Troupe.

I'm not partial to the gameplay of Bastion (more of a contemplative gamer/lazy bastard, myself), but that does look gorgeous.

OT: The Shadowrun MMO, or even more, CCP's World of Darkness/V:tM MMO.
Not that there's that much hype (except in fan circles), but I want so much out of those, that if they live up to my hopes and dreams, I'm buying them a new rig to frolic on. Especially WoD. Please, don't suck!

I'm very original (not), so for me it's Grand Theft Auto V, Total War: Rome II and Pokemon X/Y.

I'm going to vanish from society for the next few months...

Watch Dogs. The premise is awesome enough - a modern-day Assassin's Creed, but with less stabbing and more hacking of computers (in the Hollywood sense, at least) - but as with anything, it could easily fall to the evils of being a derivative IP. We shall see.

Also, another vote for Inquisition.

I loved Dark Souls and really hope the second one is good. Some of the early press releases had me worried but the game play I've been seeing lately have me hopeful again.
