Recently i was playing with a mate of mine on Marvel Ultimate Alliance when my dad walked in and said " I cannot believe it, you are 18 and still playing games."
This made me think, do you think there is a certain age you get to were games suddenly become boring or uninteresting.

I would think that your age has to be positive, for a start.

Not being dead also helps.

As far as anything else goes, there is no limit except for what people arbitrarily assign.

Personally, as long as you aren't addicted, and don't place video games over whatever you have at your age (school, partner, children, etc.), then you should be fine. They are meant for enjoyment, and fun is perfectly fine for all ages.
Edit: Basically what xmetatr0nx said.

I don't think so. I think as you get older and your reflexes slow down, you can't play the same types of games, but you can still play other games. For instance, I met this old guy at a graduation party who was about 60, and he still played Dr. Mario.

You should have said "I can't belive it, your old and have no appreciation for modern forms of acceptance!"

Often wondered about that. I've never been personally addressed as such, but, I do understand the feeling. Gaming is something I enjoy. I don't shirk my responsibilities for it, though I spend the majority of my free time playing games. Is that so different from someone that plays golf regularly?

Nope. I don't think it is.

Nor do I think I should give up my hobbies purely on the basis that some people consider them childish.

Actually, a friend and I just had a discussion about this over the phone. She told me that she though video games haven't been around long enough to have a so called "age limit," and I agree with her.

For all we know, we may be the first generation of elderly gamers.

When you find more pressing priorities in your life that take up your time family, gf, etc.
Higher priorities don't suddenly make games boring or uninteresting, they make you wish you had more time time play.

Nah, No age limit on gaming, don't be silly. I want to be in my casket with a Mouse attached to my hand and a Headset around my head.

Is he kidding? 18? Not only is the average age of gamers anywhere from 31-34, there's still tons of people in their forties playing games.

Depends on how invested you are in new priorities, if you could care less about your kids or gf then yea i suppose you have a point.
I didn't say anything about neglecting people you care about. You think it's only possible to care about one or the other, and not both?

I think your approach just differs. Testosterone plays less of a part now. I was playing ArmA2 earlier with the same lads that I play racing simulations with and the uber competitiveness has given way to just enjoying a social experience. Gaming is the medium, Ventrilo and the game du jour are the conduit, but I guess it's analogous to our fathers playing 'Don' or chequers in their day :)
