This movie looks quite amazing. I have to watch it while drinking once.

"We're going to celebrate what Christmas is really about" tacky decorations and presents were the message of Jesus now?

I really wish this was satire, but sadly it's not. Still, it looks like something I could get some laught out depending on how bad they have made it.

After seeing the trailer, I thank God I'm an atheist as there's little chance I'll be watching this.

Now this desperately calls for a sequel!

Winter Solstice with a capital W
Putting Witch back in Winter Solstice.

Where a Christian Woman returns to the Pagan village she originated from and attempts to stop it's celebrations, only to be reminded of the love Mother Earth has for us all.

And yes, I may very well have mixed up several religions there...

Ok, A its a BAD movie, like on par with a TBN, lifetime movie network type film. So by default it automatically explains the level of poor quality in writing, cinematography, acting, theme, etc.

However even if the means in which it presents what it is examining is saturated with pure uncut processed American cheese food (yanno the food cheese eats) the truly humorous thing I see here is seeing negative critiques against the plot of this film, essentially suggesting "just another case of Christians being unreasonable and hoisting their ideology on everyone" the fact that the hypocrisy that goes obliviously ignored with the reaction in this thread of an abundance of Atheists seeking out and going out of their way to find content related to Christians taking offense at atheist behavior, in order to collectively take offense of Christians and their behavior.

This is exactly why people who would speak against atheist frequently point to atheism being no different than its own form of religious faith. Mob mentallity, Assumption ones perspective is "right", Shunning the non believers.
"preaching in public forums in order to spread the ideology so it becomes accepted, dismiss and ridicule anything that conflicts as ignorance and on and on to offensive levels of ad nausea. Yet will adamantly retort anything that asserts that essentially identical behavior to what is being criticized has any commonality to what would be criticized, trying to profess intellectual high ground yet lacking the literal third grade understanding of how a "figure of speech" works.

So, lets call a spade a spade here already. If it merits going out of your way to express disdain of religion and its adherents and foster discussion that would attack religion and encourage others to jump in with the rabble rousing as people pat each other on the back for how "enlightened" they all are because they agree with each other, that behavior is absolutely NO different than what those who condemn Christianity (cause be real, Atheists are no where near "against religion" so much as they are specifically "against Christianity").

The way those who claim to be atheists or agnosts and go out of their way to inform you of their accepted doctrine, are every bit as bigoted, intolerant and stand offish with arms akimbo toward other ideas than what they would condemn or else if they tolerated it there would be no creation of threads to complain about how a contradictory message is wrong.

Want to take offense at a system of ideas that cannot be incontrovertibly proven than are different than yours? Want to condemn large groups of people who would condemn others by applying their personal values to the behavior of others? You want to feel good and confident that you are firmly on the side of "truth"? Want to get offended when others do not agree to the point it is seen as intolerance? Then understand there are on ratio every bit the same amount of atheistic bigots than there are religious bigots and when you point a finger at someone else, you forget you have three pointed right back at you.

You can never be taken seriously being upset because you think one group of people is intolerant and then turn around and engage in proactive intolerant and bigoted behavior designed to elevate that intolerant opinion over the intolerant opinion of others.

Honestly I dont know which is more shameful, the fact that I as a life long devout Satanist have to come to the defense of Christianity in the face of what is practically indistinguishable from a different form of ideological persecution because Christians fail to be able to call out this type of hypocrisy on their own, or the fact that the pot would call the kettle black in places where tolerance of people is supposed to be a primary principle, yet day in and day out with impunity hatred, bigotry and intolerance are persecuted against those who would defend faith disproportionately and freely acts as a haven for those who profess the ills of religion, openly condemn it as ignorance, superstition, stupidity, hatred, bigotry in and of itself but with no fear of consequence it acts as a breeding ground fertile to grow anti religious sentiment.

So either choose to be tolerant of others way of thinking and remain quiet. Or speak out about the intolerant bigotry of the opposition and realize that by outwardly expressing that hostility and resentment of the viewpoint of opposition is in and of it self being intolerant of that viewpoint and bigoted towards ever considering that it MIGHT have some merit even if the individual does not see how/where/why.

So atheists, please by all means. Practice what you preach. Be tolerant. Stop generating animosity. It provides no one any benefit and there has never been a shortage of it to begin with.

Clearly, you've never been to r/atheism on Reddit.
No, I haven't.

But still, I'm pretty sure that's self-contradictory.

It doesn't stop them from existing. Remember, very few people are completely free of cognitive dissonance.

That's not to say that the movie isn't atrocious, though.

I've once seen a movie like that. At first I thought it was a typical cop film but than religious propaganda was being thrown at me all the time. Showing how one of the cop's atheism was harming him and how everything started going better by joining the great christian flock. If they would have pushed the whole religion thing a bit further I would have been certain it was a satyr... it was that bad.

So no, it wouldn't surprise me the movie you mentioned is real. Shit like that is very real.
Yeah, lunatics with agendas making movies usually doesn't go well. Saw a similar movie about the post-rapture where all the young heathens were stuck in a world without water (this wasn't really explained) except for the water that had been bottled before the rapture (again, zero explanation. I must assume plastic is God-proof as a result) as punishment for not being strict enough Christians.

Turned out their Asian friend who left the group about halfway through was actually Satan. They then remarked that they should have realized this, because he was Asian. I swear to you, I'm not making this up. Then they prayed at the giant Jesus statue in Rio de Janeiro and went to Heaven. I was certain it was sincere, but felt they'd missed the point of their own religion by a considerable margin.

So this Christmas movie is actually pretty tame in comparison. Fortunately, I live in a country where nobody gives a flying fuck about this whole Christmas/Holidays argument, so I'll never even see it by accident.

I love the hypocracy of people . It's okay to make a movie with an overzealous religous person , but not the opposite . I really need to stop being curious about threads like these ...

The real crime here is another trailer that gives away the entire plot!!
They ruined it now. The plot twist and everything.

Seriously though...I reiterate what someone above me said....movies have religious idiots in them all time....why not an atheist idiot? When you flip it on it's head the bias in our centre-left minds is just as bad as what we accuse the other side of.

...it could easily be a spoof trailer ...i have not made my mind up about that...

Yeah I find it pretty silly, I swear I've seen this in a dozen kids shows already where they do a simmilar story in the christmas episode. Where do people find the budget to do this story for the millionth time?
I have nothing against people practicing their religion but to portray the one that doesn't buy into their religion as the antagonist, the enemy... Now if we were in a different country and we'd have a different religion blaming the other for not believing, it would be called "terrorist propaganda".

Am I the only one who was disappointed that this isn't a thread about FDR American Badass? [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1hTnL8XBKk]

There's tons of silly movies about Christians feeling persecuted by people who aren't persecuting them. But only one movie about FDR getting polio from a Nazi werewolf.

Shouldn't this be in religion/politics?

How many movies have had religious extremists as antagonists before? But now one has an atheist extremist and it's suddenly absurd? Of course not all atheists are like the guy presented in the movie, but not all Christians are Westboro BC either.

I don't really see anything wrong with the movie, I mean of course it looks retarded, but there's really nothing to get upset about. It's just a movie with a pro-christian message with an over-the-top douche-bag atheist for a villain because that would be the most logical choice for that kind of movie.
