Dont be so sure. I met a girl online who just types like she spoke. She was from Florida. "Hun" was a common one.

That might work. And its more underhanded than the other suggestion since they wont know what your fishing for if you do it right.

It also wont work if they are Pro and and get a picture then build the persona around it. Ask what they look like and they will describe the pic that they used when making this facade.

Its safest to try a voice chat. Chances someone will go as far as using a voice changer are slim and even then you should be able to make out wether your talking to a guy or girl by the choice of words etc.

So I was talking to this girl in Warhammer Online and she's really cool and funny and all that. Yeah, I think weve seen enough "assume its a man" statements to figure thats the wisest thing to do. I personally dont buy that "but 40% of gamers are women" shit.
