Ok, first of all i apologize if this has been done before. I DID USE THE SEARCH, BUT I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. I didn't find anything that answered my questions.

Is it just a coincidence that a majority of gamers are Athiest/Agnostic?

Is it the gaming from an early age that causes this to happen or is it just that we are drawn to the gaming community for some other reason.

Just curious to see what you think.
Christians are allergic to fun. GO GO SWEEPING JOKE-GENERALIZATIONS!

Oh, and I went to Malaysia AKA Muslim Island for a week, and game arcades were illegal due to corrupting youth. Imagine a 7-story BEAUTIFUL mall next to the Petronas Towers (sp?), with nothing but crappy clothing/shoe stores and food courts. Such a waste, such a waste.

Edit: Here's the Malaysia mall. [http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=35300917&albumID=2679085&imageID=35378379]

Useless thread without some sort of statistical basis for the original statement.
And yet, we're almost all reporting agreement based on life experience.

Hmmm...

HMMMMMM...

Absolute truth? Nay, but I'll take it!

The majority of people you play with could be atheists. The majority of people who play the games you play could be atheists. The majority of your game-playing friends could be atheists. But nowhere does that establish that it is a fact that the majority of gamers are atheists.

The majority of gamers I know are athiest but then again, I come from a very unreligious area.

I'd like to go to a bible belt somewhere and see how many people there play violent games.

You may also simply be encountering people's reluctance to be mocked and/or attacked for their ideas. It's very difficult to be openly be a person of faith on the internets. People who "know" better frequently take it upon themselves to tell you exactly how stupid you are for believing whatever it is you believe.

Oh, I know I'm damned sexy, but don't focus on me; focus on this thread and other gaming message boards.

The effort required in getting factual evidence of each gamer's honest religious affiliation is so ridiculous that circumstantial evidence and personal experience is all one can hope for, and right now it favor's the godless.

Absolute truth? Nay, but I'll take it!

No, of course not. Did you not know that games are the work of the devil, hustling unsuspecting kids from god and into schoolshootings? THEY ARE TEH EVIL!

It only appears that way because more people in general are becoming atheist/agnostic, especially on the internet, where they can talk about it. And most gamers are on the internet, so make the connection.

I think it is a coincidence because i became an athiest over a very traumatic personal experience. But i think the reason people say most gamers are athiest because with stuff like PSN and XBL you meet a lot of other people that you probably wouldn't talk to other wise and that is why many people say that the majority of gamers are athiest. You Dig?

Where's your evidence that GOD DOESN'T EXIST YOU DEVIL WORSHIPING HERETIC BASTARD! >

I mean... Yeah, I agree with OP. 'hardcore' gamers tend to be of the.... "I'm smarter than you, god doesn't exist" sort. With exceptions, of course.

Flamepost? I should really care less? You made a statement, I made a structured rebuttal. This is what happens on Forums, people have discussions.

And as for me "making" people read it, by quoting it you made them all read it again. Ironic, no?

EDIT: As for the Peggle reference, I was merely showing that people who enjoy different genres of games generally prefer the gameplay mechanics that those games present.
haha i did quote you didnt i? Sorry, just didn't expect such a long and structured rebuttal for one of my half-assed opinions.

I think it's pointless to bring this up. It's like saying the majority of gamers like to chew gum. You are just making an assumption off of your personal observations.
