Is this laptop capable of playing the games I want it to?

These are extremely high-performing gaming laptops at a great price. The one catch is that they're recertified, which means they were probably recalled or something and had some parts replaced, so not entirely "new." Still, the graphics card in them will easily perform 1.5x better than the one in your original post, and they have a dual-core processor:

Yep, no problem. If you know exactly what you're looking for, you can narrow it down part by part with the advanced search. Otherwise you can just search by price.

I looked up the i5 core from the original computer though, and it turns out the entire i5 line is dual core, it just doesn't say it in the name for some reason. Maybe dual-core is the standard now and they just thought not to include it in the description.

Yep, no problem. If you know exactly what you're looking for, you can narrow it down part by part with the advanced search. Otherwise you can just search by price.

Okay, that's good. Thought it was a bit weird that they'd have a single-core in this day and age. I generally go with AMD processors and Nvidia graphics cards, so I wasn't sure.

Thanks to all that research you prompted me to do, I've discovered that the i5 actually has a couple runs of processors that are quad-core (some of the Sandy Bridge 2xxx's and the Lynnfield 7xx's)... but yeah, they're predominantly dual-core.
...what a misleading name they have...
I didn't know, because I too generally use AMD processors (and the last time I built a system, dual-core was top of the line). More bang for your buck every time.

C'mon Dell, I wanted to buy a computer from you. You are making it hard for me to trust you if you are going to screw me out of good deals because I asked about them.

Yea, trust me, they'll screw you in more than one way. I've personally had Asus, MSi, and HP laptops. I have friends who currently have or have had Dell, Sony, and Alienware laptops. The only ones among all those brands to live past their usefulness are the Asus and MSi. Still sitting in one of my closets and would power up without problems at a moment's notice. The rest have had either the motherboard or GPU fail, and in either case, there's no way to replace those parts without buying an entirely new laptop.

The only thing is that I looked up a lot of the ASUS computers on different websites and they seem to have a track record for terrible customer service, and since I wouldn't know how to fix a computer myself, I need both a computer that will last AND one that comes with a good customer service plan to back it up just in case.
