As far as songs with lyrics made specifically for games go, the theme for the Sin Episodes was probably the best part of the whole game.


The Total War series usually has some pretty nifty credits music as well, although not in Empire or Napoleon since they went with a different audio director.

Someone's going to punch me for this, but "After the Chase" from Modern Warfare 2 is fantastic. I'm not a massive fan of MW2, but I am a massive fan of Hans Zimmer, and his score seemed to elevate many of the moments from pissweak retreaded FPS set pieces into something slightly less retreaded.

Also, I'm gonna say Still Alive. Not because its the greatest song, but because its placement and pure uniqueness in the context of the game has been unparalleled since.

Oh, and every song on the Braid soundtrack.

That game had me in stiches the whole way through. With Cary Elwes as the bard it was Brillant

Anyway I'm going to put "M4 Part 2" by Faunts. It was the credits song from Mass Effect.

That song is incomplete without it's video.

Spoiler: This one, to be precise.

It's a good video but unfortunatly it's the cut-down version of the song and misses some of the good parts in it. It's a pretty poor edit which is unfortunate.

I always loved the music in The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. Maybe because it reminds me of irish riverdancing... who knows, always brings a smile to my face regardless.


Assassin's Creed 2 had a damn impressive orchestral soundtrack that's just so beautiful.


While Mass Effect 1 had a very bland soundtrack Mass Effect 2 actually had music good enough for me to buy.

I've never actually played a Silent Hill game so I have no idea of the context of this one. Even so, I still consider this to be possibly the best videogame song I've heard.

And now we're going old school. Ah HOMM2, one of the only TBS games I've seen that actually contains songs - and opera at that.

The Good castles did seem to get the better themes.

Fuck. Yes. I remember hearing this song for the first time when I was watching the credits for MGS - it literally gave me chills. One of the few times that I was actually happy to watch the credits for a game.
