Is this really how they react to girls on XBOX live? (NSFW language)

I recall a few instances where I played online with a few ladies talking in the mic. I also noticed that 9/10 its a kid who hasn't reached puberty that harass them. Just because girls play video games does not make them automatically bad at it. Heck most of the women I have played with have had the highest points in the game.

I swear. Every time I play a game the only person who is whining and complaining is a boy who hasn't even developed yet into a teenager. I am surprised their parents don't even care their kid is taking money away from them and playing a game not meant for their age level.

On the plus side, it is fun to pick on the kid when everyone else is tired of him. Happened a few times on our Team Fortress 2 server. Kid comes on and acts like he runs the place when it was our Clan's server. We all responded with a ORLY and turned on friendly fire, all of us went pyro and attacked him since he was a spy. He didn't even realize this and then had a conniption fit and then left. So there are benefits on getting back to those annoying twerps.

TL; DR: If you can't handle 12 year old boys insinuating things about what you do with your privates while you play COD on LIVE, then I haven't really got much to say.
I think that it's less that people have their feelings hurt or whatever from screaming children and/or manchildren on xbawks live, it's that the multiplayer experience would be much more pleasant if people didn't have to wade through armies of screaming children and/or manchildren.

Wow, the youtube comments suck, too:

1. Don't use a mic
2. Don't make your clan tag 'Lady'
problem solved?

Ok first no one respects people over xbox live so girls shut the fuck up and take it like a man.

If you took lady off your clan tag people wouldn't be harassing, so obviously your seeking attention.

I was overwhelmed by the beauty of your username and your avatar combo that I had a mild blank moment.
But it's true, it's pretty impossible to find a friendly/fun gaming atmosphere on Xbox, annoyingly.

I have a pretty low tolerance for people stupid enough to make comments like the ones Burger was quoting. I didn't say everyone on Youtube were retards, just that they have more morons than any other site I am aware of. And before you nitpick I am not calling them mentally retarded in the clinical sense and would certainly never damn them for being so. I am using the term to describe "severely idiotic people".

This is why I avoid XBL and CoD altogether. I've had my share of encounters with idiots like these.
(Not all XBL players are like this, but I prefer playing on PSN. Players are much more respectable.)

One way to avoid some of these situations is not to use a mic. Having a vague name helps too.

Your still using a derogatory term to insult a group of people's intelligence, which is stooping yourself down to their level.

Well I wasn't damning them on their word choose or offensiveness (though they were obviously out of line in both regards) , but rather their poor logic. I see where you're coming from though and I can assure you that I generally do not stoop to their level when playing online games with these kinds of people.

I only played with a girl once (that I know of) and everything went normal, it was on Halo 3, she talked and everyone was ok with it not making a big deal out of it and not making the girl the theme of the conversation.

Wouldn't know, I honest to christ can't remember the last time I actually found a girl on xbox live...well there was once in a halo reach match where she was partenered up with someone who sounded like he was eight, but no one said anything to either of them minus some simple "look out" and "guy with no shields over there" stuff. Not to mention the 3 of us were the MVPs for our team that match...it was a weird day.

Even as a dude, (hetro) I find this disgusting. I've gone through a fair share of girls on my Live friends list by playing games with them and being generally nice; and ironically I'm the one who deleted pretty much every single one of them for being bitches / sucking up to the attention [not to stereotype].

I don't go on Xbox to find a Girlfriend, I go on there to play games and socialise with friends. I don't think the internet is the way to get into a relationship, but it could be a common interest.

Well see, the very first example [http://fatuglyorslutty.com/wp-content/uploads/EGoW_PAINTBALL.png] on that page is looking likely to be a classic case of that context issue I mentioned earlier. Indeed, it's not pleasant but it seems that the person who took the screenshot was perceived as a camper and lost a match/was booted then cussed out, not a case of abuse due to sexism. I'm a male and have been called exactly the same names, it's part and parcel of some shitty aspects of multiplayer gaming. True, it'd be better without it but please don't confuse the issue as it weakens the argument against genuine examples of sexism.

Oh, and thanks for additional balance from the likes of VaudevillianVeteran... good to know it's not all whiteknights and sketchy Youtube videos.

Ive never been on xbox live but on pc people have been pretty much okay with me being a girl although they usually don't find out until I say something that's needed like 'There's a banshee behind you'

When guys are friendly there's always this worry in the back of my mind that they are only playing with me because I'm a girl and not because I'm any good. That's kind of lame on my part though and I try to ignore the paranoia.

I would kind of expect guys to do this crap on comms but that said it doesn't make me think very well of them.

You hear stories of girls getting shit off guys then getting added by them later or something. If you are going to act like a dick to me in front of your mates it doesn't really encourage me to befriend you...

Wait, what? Please elaborate.
The first girl I deleted went from being incredibly social, to incredibly antisocial. She had a boyfriend and they used to join my friends and I on Halo 3's multiplayer. They were very social and it was great. Then they suddenly stopped joining for a few weeks, only to return but never speak. We thought it was rude as they never invited any of us any more, they would just join sessions and not speak no matter how many messages I would send; so after a continuous bout of rudeness I deleted them both.

The second and third girls (not together) were nice for the first few months as well, but they continuously sucked up to whoever was giving them the most attention at the time. I.E. the first kept interrupting our conversations to talk about themselves. She were friendly to begin with but after a while she just came across as bitchy. The second was cool, but lost her cool when games got bad online. she was friendly and chatty outside the matches but horrid whilst playing them. She even screeched at my best mate for something SHE did that hindered the team, he called her a ***** for doing so, she blocked communications with him and things deteriorated from there.

The fourth from a few months ago also had a partner well before I added her and considered a "friend". She was chatty, quirky, not really a looker but fun to talk to. But her profile was full of things about her boyfriend. She would always said "M2AF" (message to all friends) messages with that prefix to them, and the messages consisted of bragging about netflix... which was fine, and how amazing her boyfriend was, which got annoying after a few days. But I just ignored that.

I deleted her after her boyfriend ditched her the second time, and for the second time she posted "I hate my life, I want to end it, why is everyone so cruel" everywhere she could spread it, sucking up to the male attention. turns out she had NEVER met him in person anyway. After I got a 3rd "M2AF - I hate my life, some guys are jerks blah blah poop drizzle shit" kind-of message, I politely said that "M2AF" in front of a message is pointless as we all get the message without that and it seems less... friendly.

Actually, she deleted me without replying.

Other than that, my other best mates' girlfriend is the only other girl I've not been pissed off with when it comes to gaming.

I think we're still a ways off until this kind of behavior is behind us. I'll admit, like many others when we were young'ns I was somewhat baffled when I got into an online game with a girl. I think a lot of people have grown up along side the medium and adapted to the natural evolution of gaming culture over the course of the last decade. Those left behind are either children, chauvinistic assholes, or mouth breathers... none of which I'd really want to play an online game with myself.

Then there are some guys who would prefer to play with women because they aren't generally as obnoxious online as guys are. I think I am probably in that category.
