Jesus christ, those guys could be discussing philosophy and I'd still want to kill them. This is why voice chat is God's punishment for an evil world.

Really though, reprehensible. Ladies, I apologize on behalf of my appalling gender, and humbly submit that all males age 13-24 be sequestered on Monster Island.
They really should change the name since it's a penninsula, not an island.

This is why you should only use voice chat when it's absolutely necesary. Find that mute mic button and use it, people. I pretty much always start a match that way.

For some reason I'm reminded of a post I saw online once where this guy was like "Why don't women ever wanna go out with me? They say they want a nice guy but always reject me. Fucking bitches..."

Also, why would a vagina that smells like meatloaf be a bad thing? Meatloaf smell is awesome :p

Remember guys, "the only B word you should ever call a woman is Beautiful. Bitches love being called beautiful." (sorry, couldn't resist)

I honestly don't play XBL because if I ever feel like wasting money I can think of at least 10 better ways to do it, and because I have boy parts I can't exactly relate to the problems women face on XBL so...I'm not exactly sure why I'm here.

Video was pretty funny though. I mean it was sad because there are people that act like this, but it was still funny.

This is why I'm glad I only play TF2 and the Half-Life games when I do a multiplayer FPS. I've only encountered misogyny one single time in my clan's TF2 servers, and as for Half-Life and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, they're already scarcely populated games as it is, so a sexist asshole is something I have yet to find on either game.

OT: Some of the Youtube comments are kinda correct. You don't make names like "XxIm_a_gurlxX" with a clan tag of [Gurl] or [LADY] if you don't want attention.
Wait, so it's only okay to have a gendered username or clan tag as long as it's a male gendered name or clan tag? If I play as xXx_Frodo_Teabaggins_xXx am I looking for attention?
I really don't want to be "that guy", but if you're just gonna read part of the post, and just disregard the rest, don't respond.
Quoting part of a post =/= reading only that part of the post.

-Samurai- said:
Oh, and for a bit of afterthought; How many males do you see announcing their genders in their name or clan tag?
Plenty. Various male first names, Ronald McPwnage, Frodo Teabaggins, Some Guy, etc., etc. For some reason people only notice a name is gendered when it's female.

As a person that has never used a mic in his life, this is like exploring a strange barbarian land for me.

Maybe it helped that we didn't have very girl-y handles. [Lucem712] & and [CptAwesome].

Though, I did have someone scream harassment at me because I was killing them a-lot. All while mispronouncing my username, saying 'Luck UM' instead of 'LOOSE EM'.
Linguistic nitpick, perhaps, but the classical Roman Latin pronunciation of "lucem" would be with a velar plosive /k/. Like the start of "leukemia". Yours is a medieval liturgical Latin variant, not wrong at all, just not the only correct one.

Though I doubt the voice chat guys thought of that.

I like a bit of banter with my multiplayer gaming. I can't count the amount of time american teenagers have made fun of my english accent. You just take the piss right back.

Why should we have to change it?

We should be able to call ourselves what we want.
Where the fuck did you get any of that?

Where did I say you should change your name and can't call yourself what you want? How do you take what I wrote and get that out of it? I know the cool thing to do here is to twist shit around for a pointless argument, but fucking christ, that's just....bad.

Stuff goes here.

You probably missed the edits to the post you quoted(I added stuff after you got the notification), so I'd like to encourage you to read them. Not because they're valuable to the topic, but because I typed them specially for you, and it's rude to refuse a gift.

What both of you seem to be missing is the point of what I said. It's amazing that both of you read the same thing and came up with two wildly different interpretations. Maybe that's my fault for not properly conveying my thoughts. Maybe its yours for wanting to argue about this nonsense. Who knows?

Anyway, the point is that you know what you're getting yourself into when you make your names online. And don't feed me that bullshit that you don't know. If you've ever been on the internet, you know exactly how people behave. You know what to expect.

Your options are to continue with something you know is gonna get you some harassment, or to just deal with it. You're not the only person being harassed. Your race, gender, age, weight, and mother are all going to come under attack while playing online, so you can deal with it like everyone else, or be smart and mute/block people.

And please don't start with the "Well maybe people shouldn't be douchebags online!" stuff, because I agree. They shouldn't. But they are douchebags, so you can roll with it, or ignore it.

Yeah....I tried using a mic a couple of times and don?t intend to do it again. The insults aren?t the worst bit, everyone gets insulted. It?s the ?I know nothing about you other than that you play this game but I love you, date me!? guys and the creepy questions about my sex life.

it happens everywhere in any a mostly male dominated activity. i've seen it happen and warhammer clubs (and that RL p2p as well), counter-strike and even minecraft. girls pretty much have to deal with it unfortunatly.

Get over yourselves females, I've found that the women and men I've played against on live are equally capable of being insufferable jerks. In fact I played against a woman last night on xbox live that was one of the biggest jerkwads I've played against in a long time. Would not shut up about her kill death ratio and kept calling us (her TEAMMATES) bad kids.

On a related note, I once played a game of halo double team against two guys who sounded like ghetto black people, complete with ebonics. Their gamer tags were XxXCrACKAKillAXxX and XxH0nk3yThrAshaxX. Kept asking me and my teammate the entire game(well, for several minutes until we muted them) if we were 'crackas.'

No, I'm not kidding. Never saw them again after that though. Pretty sure they got banned.

Wow, the youtube comments suck, too:

1. Don't use a mic
2. Don't make your clan tag 'Lady'
problem solved?

Ok first no one respects people over xbox live so girls shut the fuck up and take it like a man.
iSilverwolf 3 days ago
If you took lady off your clan tag people wouldn't be harassing, so obviously your seeking attention.

It warms my heart to know victim blaming is still a major thing.

And I'm sure this harassment is widespread and systematic, like the stuff described.

...Ow...I think I pulled something doing that huge eye roll.

People on PC rarely use mics outside of organized play.
I think that has more to do with programs like Teamspeak and Ventrilo. They give you the option of passwording your voice chats and keeping unwanted people out. So, they're using them, just not in a way that anyone outside the program will hear them.

OT: Some of the Youtube comments are kinda correct. You don't make names like "XxIm_a_gurlxX" with a clan tag of [Gurl] or [LADY] if you don't want attention.

If you've ever played anything online, you know what you're getting yourself into when you make a name like that, and have no-one to blame but yourself when you get harassed by people you can mute with the press of a button.

Sure, they shouldn't be acting like that to begin with, but that part is out of your control. Use the options you have available to you, and don't ***** when you get harassed in an online game, because you're certainly not the only one putting up with people like that.

OT: Who gives a fuck about the chick, those folks were tubing in Search. Noobs.
This guy gets it.

And on another note; Who the fuck goes into a game on their own with their mic on? No one wants to talk to you. Turn your shit off.
You can't blame the victim for there own harassment. It really sound like you are saying that people should hide a trait common to 50% of the population. That is madness.

I must also take issue with the argument 'everyone deals with it, so stop complaining' (i know you didn't use those words, but it is the essence of your argument) as this gives all the power to the trolls. If the reasonable people called them out on it, even when it wasn't addressed to them, the trolls would quickly realise they can't get away with it.

Even if you don't do it, people like you allow this sort of thing to happen.

I think girls need to dish it back more. They're missing great opportunities to belittle such pathetic losers.

Guys that talk like that are clearly not getting laid and/or have tiny penises. Call them out on it ladies. It just might be fun >:)

It doesn't surprise me. I never considered getting live when I owned a working X360, because I figured most people online act like this.
