I received a message from a member on the forums who has,

A. No posts.
B. Joined on the 13th of August (yesterday at the time of writting)

Message was

"Hello
My name is miss blessing i saw your profile today and became interested in you,i will also like to know you the more, and i want you to send a mail to my email address so i can give you my picture for you to know whom l am.Here is my email address (blessing14@hotmail.com) believe we can move from here.I am waiting for your mail to my email address above.miss blessing.(Remember the distance age or color does not matter but love matters allot in life)
Please reply me with my email address here"

I'm inclined not to write back, especially since she/he doen't share any of my interests on her profile, could this be an email hacker of some kind? I email them with an address, and they send me back a virus or worse, hack my account somehow?

Is this scenario at all familiar and is there any previously done proceedure on the subject?

Seems suspicious, I wouldn't respond. I'm not sure if it is an email hacker, and if responding would actually do anything detrimental. However, if it looks like spam it probably is.

It's a phishing attempt at getting your email address so that you can be targeted by spambots or a person thinks that you Email account is protected by a poor password...

I got the same message. Deleted without a second thought.
Ok cheers, thank to the others as well. But its good to know that I'm not targeted/alone... I suspected it to be fake and hearing that someone else has been targeted in the same way is good to know.

Anyone introducing themselves as Miss anything = scammer.
(Usually African.)
Its not really specific targeting, I see these on a lot of sites.
The scammer joins and just copy/sends the mail to everyone currently showing as online.

Never had a message like that but yes its fake. If they where the type of person interested in you they might like have a facebook or at least information.

Its like when you get facebook invites from girls you've never met with odd names and revealing pictures. You know the guys actually making these accounts have a sense of humor when you sit and actually say the names of the girls out loud.

Its a phishing message, forward them on to you nearest moderator, do not reply to them.

We can put protective barriers around and launch stinger missiles.

I received a message like that recently. I did some basic research and found out right away that it's a scammer. The photos this person sends seem to be used quite often since I found this site http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5978 which show the exact same photos this person sent to me.

Ignore this person and do not tell this person that you know he/she is a scammer because of the pictures because they will start using another set of pictures.

I don't know how old. The person claimed she's a girl of 24 but I'd put the person in the pictures at around 20-22. Just click on that site link and look at the pictures if you want to know.

I used to reply back to spam email for fun, you can get pretty hilarious results. That's definitely spam. If I was you I'd lead her on. You can get them to do really stupid stuff like these guys: http://www.419eater.com/
