Is this talk actually true?

So I just finished a session of MW2, and through most of the games, people were talking about that anyone caught using glitches would be suspended. If it is true, is this enough motive to get people to stop and whether it will overlook quite a few glitchers. And wouldn't it be easier to just patch it up?

Well yes it is true that they're banning exploiters, and yes it would make more sense to patch it all.

I'm not on LIVE but own MW2 and just because I'm curious, what exactly is the Javelin glitch?

OT: Apparently, there are doing so.

Patches take time to code and implement. Now, for most companies the time is measured in hours. However, there is a definite cynicism among players toward developers that they turn a "10-minute fix" into a "3-month eventuality".

Edit: So far, XBL is banning folks who are caught using it, but I haven't seen anything about those who use it on PSN, so I can't comment there. I also heard that PC users would face 0 repercussions for this exploit (though that's hearsay).

At any rate, the patch will come eventually, just give it time. In the meantime, I hope you're not one of those who would utilize such an exploit. Those are the worst sort of people.

Why didn't you screenshot him or something or ban him? There's no better feeling then the swing of the banhammer.

If you're looking for someone to give you detailed instructions on it, I wouldn't bother.

Infinity Ward needs to make the patch so MS can release it. The bannings are a temporary solution

I would never glitch. I play the game like it was meant to be played. Although I'm happy on the inside because glitching is actually being stopped, but a little cynical because, how can you get evry glitcher.

Just picture martyrdom, only far cheaper.

By threads like this. Are you going to risk a suspension for using a stupid glitch? Is you K/D ratio that important to you that you will put your place on the leaderboards on the line? It may not catch them all but it will make people think twice before they exploit it. Just wait until the law suits start rolling in though. There should be warnings all over XBL or when you start an MP game.

And no I don't mean you personally. It is used in a general sense.

I believe it was a day suspension raising to a two week ban for repeat offenses. I've heard that IW is working on a patch.

Once I found that it was a suspendable offense, I proceeded to report every person who I saw using the glitch, on my team or not.

It is perhaps the most annoying thing I've run into with a video game. It is actually incredibly difficult to kill someone exploiting the glitch without dying in return. It doesn't necessarily seem to rely on distance or facing of the person. I've been safe at relatively close ranges and I've died at 30+ meters.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was inserted purposefully into the game to attract attention

Agreed. My other concern is how long will it be before another glitch/exploit is found? The new 'witch' class isn't a cheat by any means so for IW to patch it would only mean the people who use the perks the right way are being penalized. I freaking love online shooters, but crap like this annoys me.

There was a big incident about the 'Javelin glitch' but I have no idea what that is.

Maybe they should patch the game instead of banning people.

This is Modern Warfare 2, you can't do that.
