While these aren't the ugliest consoles, they have always been ugly. I just will not be impressed with them until they start making them as cool as PC cases. Consoles will never be as pretty as the Temple of Nod PC case:

I have one of those in the closet that my Dad gave me! LOL Yes, I think that takes the cake for being the ugliest console of all time. Looks are subjective! I personally like the Xbox One's design, but look at the Wii U and PS4's design and think "it's okay, I guess". This generation for me does look a little better than the last though. =D

Personally, I quite like the styling. I'd take these (style-wise) over say, a PS1, or an N64.

I'm just glad they are boxes, instead of some incapable looking mishmash of curves like the Xbox 360 was. It means I can save some of my under TV real Estate, and stack 'em up. Something I haven't been able to do with a console since the original NES. Saves space, looks swell. I don't care about the inevitable performance issues there. I just want to not have to set one on the floor.

I think the xbox one on the other hand is boring, but if its design really does make the machine quiet then its at least not for nothing. Personally though, I like the Gamecube the best. It had a handle on it and came in colors. The Wii was ok but Nintendo dropped the ball by not making the Gamesphere

/Very/ subjective. Both the Xbone and the PS4 are decent pieces of industrial design that would fit in with any other home theater component -- which in this day and age, game consoles very much are. The PS4 is a bit more interesting looking, the Xbone blends in better. Neither one is exactly what I'd call offensive looking.Soopy said:

The sega 32x looked like garbage I seriously didnt know what the hell they were doing there it was like a mushroom growing out of the megadrive but I suppose that was between generations.
I think the Wii is the nicest looking console though and it just stays nicely out of the way not commanding its presence.

Anyway, I like the look of the PS4. It reminds me of my laptop. I don't like the half-glossy half-matte finishing both consoles have done, and I'd be happy if they did away with that, but whatever.
Really, it's not like it's any different this gen than it ever has been. The NES was a gray box, the SNES was a gray box (and an ugly one with mismatched colors and panels and eugh), the Genesis was a black box, the Nintendo 64 was a box that came in a range of colors including black, the Playstation was a gray box, the Xbox was a black box, the PS2 was a black box, the Gamecube was a cube box that came in a range of colors including black, etc. etc. until the end of time.
On a note about the SNES, I wish the Super Nintendo in America looked half as good as it had when it was released as the Super Famicom in Japan. That thing looked pretty baller.

Careful you don't melt them, or worse, start a fire. The consoles run a lot hotter than they did back in the NES days.omegaweopon said:
