Read this comic, ignoring the last panel, first then respond.

I never really understood why people hate the new three Star Wars movies, I mean Phantom Menace wasn't great, but they got better with age, and Revenge of the Sith stood out as a great addition to the series. Then I came upon this comic, which explained why some people hate episodes 1, 2, and 3. Is this really the reason?! Are Star Wars fans really pissed off by this?! Really?! This is insignificant to me. I didn't even notice it when I watched Phantom Menace the first few times. Please help me here, I'm completely lost.

I was confused and dissapointed at that, but t wasnt what made the movies bad... Jar Jar as worse than that.

I dont hate the lest/first ones, i just think that the original star wars is much bbeter than there counterparts.

Well, the whole midichlorians thing was completely unnecessary, and it just helped to make a bad movie even worse - the story was terrible, and the characters (particularly in comparison to the original 3 Star Wars movies) were god-awful.

I thought episode 2 was ruined largely by the fact that Hayden Christensen can't act AT ALL, and his "romance" with Padme felt so awkward and forced. Episode 3 was alright, but once again the shitty acting and awkward relationship greatly hurt my overall impression of the movie - "Anakin, you're breaking my heart"..... one of the few lines which never fails to make me cringe. Seriously, Natalie Portman CAN act, but WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED THERE?

But yeah, I think the Midichlorians was a huge kick in the balls to long-time fans, considering the whole "Force" concept was one of the most intriguing and original parts of the first three movies; I (and many others) simply can't comprehend WHY George Lucas found it necessary to explain it - it makes no fucking sense whatsoever, and it literally just comes off as Lucas trying as HARD as he possibly can to ruin his once beloved series.

I'm with you guys, I love Star Wars and I thought that the prequel movies were good to fucking great! I just don't understand the hate for the prequels. I'm really trying to understand it.

For me, it's more a combination of bad acting and poorly written dialogue.
If they show those prequels on TV, I will still watch them as I don't think they are THAT bad.
They are entertaining, but they lack the feel of the original movies.

I cringe whenever I hear her say: "Please Anakin! You are breaking my heart!" It's just so unnatural.

If you forget episode 1 then the prequels are fine. Just not quite as good as expectations.

I have no problem with the prequels.

I've watched them all several times over and enjoyed every minute.

And I am secure enough in my sexuality to admit that Ewan McGregor is a sexy beast.

They're just as good as the originals. I'm actually glad they exist. Why does the force even need to be mystical? Huh? Does it help? NO!
IMO, yes it does. Part of the appeal of the force is its mystery.

On another tangent, have any of you seen the Clone Wars cartoon? Not the old 5 minute one, which was awesome, but the current 30 min one? I like it. It's not as epic as the movies, but what can? It's just fun. I haven't seen a lot of feedback on it, so I'm asking you. Tim Buckley apparently hates it, but our opinions don't always match up.

i think the real reason most people hate the star wars prequels is because the originals were so groundbreaking that theres no way the new ones could live up, i work at a day care center and all the kids who dont know how groundbreaking the originals were absolutly love everything star wars

Me too, especially Star Wars I.

Jar Jar isn't that annoying.

But the ending of Star Wars III was stupid and frustrating.

What the heck? No one gives a shit about "midichlorians". The prequels simply suck ass.

I mean, c'mon. Did you even see Revenge of the Sith? It has the worst plot in all of the star wars movies. The way Anakin falls to the dark side is probably the dumbest script writing I've ever seen. No, the whole prequel trilogy has one of the dumbest scripts I've ever seen.

This [http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=episode3] sums up pretty much everything.

In my opinion the third one was decent. But the first two had bad acting, terrible dialog, weak plot and truly were b rated films jazzed up with special effects and with a name behind it.

They did the exact opposite of the first three which had a much smaller budget, and no name and created hits that lasted for 2 generations. If I was a super fan, I'd be pissed...but to me they are simply forgetable.

It's as though they are like a trilogy game based off the first three films.

Seconded. George Lucas needs to read some books until he figures out how dialogue is supposed to work. Or maybe just never write again; he can try that too.

And as for acting, Hayden Christensen is worse than an amateur. But I guess after that kid from Phantom Menace they pretty much had to pick a bad actor for playing grown-up Anakin Skywalker (I mean, who has time for acting lessons after all that Jedi training, right?).

P.S. OP might want to check out A question for Star Wars fans. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.172506-A-question-for-Star-Wars-fans?page=1] I feel like I'm tooting my own horn here, but I seriously asked this exact question about three months ago.
