Is this why people hate the Star Wars prequels?!

Probably would've gotten a better reception if they were released as a different series.

But then, I don't really take them all that seriously.

I loved the first movie. It was awesome.

The second and third movies were pure bile because of a combination of bad writing and Hayden Christiensen.

The fans of the originals thought they would get a grown up film, they forgot that the first three were for the kids and they grew up.

Because they grew up they aren't the target demographic anymore.

I saw the prequels before seeing the original trilogy, and I personally feel that the originals are better, though the prequels are okay. I just couldn't get past the bad acting, when going over them again. I liked the first better than the other two, simply because the didn't have Hayden Chirstensen in it, I think he's a terrible actor. The Clone Wars, new and old are good, I like them. But the prequels, I could take em or leave em.

They failed to meet with the impossible standards of the fan-base, due to the massive gap between the third movie and the forth movie.
Which is a shame, because I rather liked PM.

Explaining the force? Jar Jar Binks? THE WHOLE OF EPSIODE 2?! Hayden Christensen's acting skills? Those three movies do not and should not count at all.

I do and don't agree with the comic. The whole way to measure the force thing was kind of stupid. Why couldn't they just feel it instead of saying "High midichlorian rate he has, MMM".

I didn't like how overpowered they made the Jedi seem in the star wars prequels. Go back and watch the originals, the prequels effectively make Luke Skywalker look like a weak little *****.

yup excellent point about midichlorians.... why the hell didn't the empire just go around with a midichclorian detector making sure no more jedi are born or hiding...

bunch of stormtroopers detect midichlorians in your bloodstream? Sorry pal your toast!

I think people hate the prequals for more than that one tiny point though...

The origional trilogy never pandered to kids (aside from the ewoks of course) and was a fantasy sci-fi that could be enjoyed by both kids and grown-ups, the rot set in I feel, with the tweaking done at skywalker ranch...

"ok" i thought "updating and polishing the effects aint a bad idea, as time moved on it looked a little ropey, escpecially after the 900th viewing." So like a good fanboy I paid my cash and went to see my beloved films given a new lick of paint... well, the basic stuff was ok, jabba looked a little wrong but overall it was hard to fault those bits, but then the comic relief jawas falling about like in a keystone cops movie as if lucas was trying to get every opportunity he could to lighten the mood, escpecailly the audience sense of apprehension and suspense as they enter mos eisley spaceport.... then of course there was han shooting first which totally negates his story arc over the 3 movies from bad-ass smuggler to hero of the rebellion, han HAS to be the guy who shoots first, he's smarter than greedo and knows whats coming and has no qualms about shooting first, he's a charcter of grey morality who could go either way but ultimately chooses good....oh and keep the gungans out of 4-6 I liked the daydream that the empire had simply comitted a well deserved genocide against the entire race.

Well i could lecture all day about how lucas did his best to fuck eps 4-6 but hell, the reason people hate the prequals so much is that they were like the restored origionals with the actual good stuff almost entirely removed, Lucas clearly thought we were fans of slapstick jawas and han shooting second and that ewoks were a GREAT idea (though preferable to gungans) and clearly thought "yeah more of that!"
I still don't get the whole "Han shooting first" thing, as long as he kills Greedo why does it matter? Is this tiny point of characterization really that important with a character that spans three movies and is actually really cool? Do we really need this small point to sum up a character that everyone loves? I really don't understand how people sweat the small stuff like that.

I'm not sure why people go nuts about Star Wars at all. It's nothing but a couple of hours of campy acting and really bad costumes.

Sure, I can understand why the first film was big during the day, but the films have been far surpassed by other sci-fis.

This is another thing - how was his acting worse than the earlier films?

I got that, but isn't that something someone in continuity control notice? The Jedi and Sith are really powerful in any media other than the original three films. Was there some magical "make the Force uber" technique that was lost between Ep. 3 and 4?
- Which brings me to Darth Vader. Darth motherfucking Vader. Why can't he run? If he's the successor of General Grevious, shouldn't he be able to run and jump at least as well as him? That ************ was really agile, and Vader's tech is supposed to be better than that. You'd think that with the Force and robotic parts he'd be all six million dollar man on everyone. I realize he's really strong(see ep. 4) but why can't Vader run, jump, or dodge? He should be able to pull off some Matrix shit there, but no he just walks around like he's always really pissed(which he is). I understand that Vader's really bad-ass and he doesn't need to run, but shouldn't he still be able to?

I didn't mind episode 1, I mean it's just they had to have a child actor, which always makes stuff worse. Episode 2 was really poor in my opinion. They introduced a load of characters who we're just supposed to know who they are and the romance sucked.

I honestly didn't have a problem with the prequels. Maul was badass, Tyranus was badass (and portrayed by Christopher Lee(who is badass)), and the third was... eh. Didn't care too much for the third one.

Revenge of the Sith was okay. Attack of the Clones & Phantom Menace? Not so much.

Agree with the comic to an extent. What I mean by that is that while Jar Jar Binks didn't totally ruin the movie single-handedly, he did help.

I never really enjoyed the first ep but the second was okay, bar some of the romance scenes which really didn't need to happen. The third one I thought was brilliant, I loved the action between Anny and Obi-wan and how they finally showed as to why he turned into Vader.
The midichlorians did ruin the mystery behind of what exaclty is the force.
Also the Clone Wars 30 minute cartoon is not to bad actually, only terrbile when there is a Jar Jar or Padmae (spelling?) episode.
