Ok, I've almost completed this game now and it's bloody awesome.
There was a few issues. Tapping a button to open a door is a bit ridiculous. Why can't you just open it, you know? The random QTE enemies are a bit pointless but it doesn't really take away from the experience. It's just a bit unnecessary. The sequence when you're falling out of a plane I didn't like either but that's because I sucked at it.
But you know what, this is a really, really fun game. Isn't that what the video games industry is supposed to be about? Fun, not finding a small flaw in a game and beating a drum about it or whining when you find it difficult. I'll concede that there are some parts where the game expects you to know what is about to happen like someone will drop a buring barrel on your head and you won't be phased by it. But it always saves before it does something like that so after the first mistake, it really isn't a problem.
I'm willing to overlook these small problem because the rage mode gave me a throbbing metaphorical erection. That is the most fun I've had in a game since the enhanced gravity gun in Half Life 2. The screen goes cell shaded, red, white and black so the enemies are easy to make out and you have to do something or other while unleashing furious amounts of hurt over anyone who stands upright which a nice and fitting song playing in thee background.
Call me simple or naive or whatever you want, but I've had so much fun playing this game and I stand by what I said at the beginning of the year which is this will be my game of the year, unless Brutal Legend convinvces me otherwise which is entirely likely.
Look at me growing up, I'm not even going on the defensive or anything. =]
