Well I do think that he needs to blame 3rd-party developers more and the Wii itself less. I'm not sure where that makes me stand on the question...
This, definitely.

I only partly understand why people blame the Wii itself for its lack of good games. It's like shooting the messenger after receiving the bad news. Sure, Nintendo has marketed the Wii as a "family" system, but unless Nintendo is deliberately and actively preventing 3rd-party developers from making more mature-themed games for the Wii (and they do exist: Conduit, MadWorld, No More Heroes, Dead Space Extraction, Red Steel, Silent Hill, RE4 to name a few), I can't see how the Wii itself is being blamed for the lack of such games. Nintendo can't be expected to make these kind of 1st-party games as Nintendo has never made them (though a new Starfox64-style Starfox game would be nice - can the whole adventure thing and go back to pure flying space battles!). Instead I would blame the 3rd parties for not seeing the large market, and the large amount of money that can be made, from making a more mature game for the Wii, and for only making half-assed efforts half the times they do try. The only game I can see that you can blame the Wii for in this regard is The Conduit, as the Wii's online friend code system really sucks and prevents the kind of matchmaking required for success with online FPS. That shouldn't stop developers from making something akin to a Gears of War or an RPG like Mass Effect or Dragon Age for the Wii, however. Sure, it won't have as amazing graphical capabilities, but there's so much more to games than just the graphics. I think certain developers need to be reminded of that (I'm looking at YOU, Epic). If they apply themselves to what the Wii offers in an intelligent way, they could yet salvage the Wii's reputation and make bank when they do.

P.S. As far as applying themselves intelligently, they did try hard with The Conduit, and No More Heroes and Silent Hill each had their moments with the Wii's capabilities. No More Heroes even merited a sequel! Developers should be encouraged to continue in this positive direction with the Wii, and away from producing more shovelware.

Nope, he is just being truthful and he is harsh with everything. It's a comedic style and if you like it then his reviews shouldn't mean anything to you.

Nope. The Wii is easily the worst console on the market right now. It has about seven good games the last time i checked, and roughly 700 pieces of crap.

Way to go, Yahtzee!

Yes... Look at his Conduit Review. Every single complaint he made about the controls could've been fixed were he to use the settings.

It's not that he is too harsh on the Wii it is just that any gamer who plays past the Sims or Halo will understand that mainstream games are 'fun' instead of waggling around a strange contraption that makes you feel like you are holding something that you shouldn't be... then again he keeps hinting that he's gay so maybe he likes that kind of stuff.

I love the Wii, it's prob my favourite of the consoles, but it still doesn't bother me that Yahtzee likes to pick on it, cuz it's funny when he does.

As oppose to the other consoles which have maybe one or two good games (Halo, Gears) and several hundred clones of them?

So....you admit they were good? also, lets think about...God of War, Infamous, Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil, Half Life 2, Fallout 3, Street Fighter IV, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid, Killzone 2, borderlands, Final Fantasy (the real ones), Uncharted, Left 4 Dead, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Grand Theft Auto (All of them), Dragon Age: Origins, Oblivion, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Fable II, The rest of the Orange Box, Splinter Cell, Dead Rising, Brutal Legend, The real usage of playable online that doesn't require a 16 digit code, better DLC, a hard drive, internet, built in wi-fi, and the wii just looks silly. Need i continue?

Now, let's look at the wii: well, there may be a metroid game coming out, and speaking of clones, isn't mario appearing in his 350th game? what a landmark!

There's a wide variety of great games out at the moment.

While not all of them are outstanding, they're certainly better than the Wii lineup.

No.

I'm an adamant Wii-hater as the last decent thing I played on it was House of the Dead Overkill.

Considering it's only real "killer-apps" are a buggy 3D Mario game with a really wonky camera (Mario Galaxy and I'm willing to receive tons of hate mail about that statement) and Mario 3 again (NSMBWii). Zelda was alright though, maybe that was because I don't play Zelda much but
I blame the third party developers more than the console though. I also blame Nintendo for making the same game eleventy billion times.

Perhaps it's an opinion matter. I personally prefer the lineup of upcoming Wii titles. So I apologize if I made a harsh generalization. It just gets to me sometimes, seeing all this unwarranted (I believe) bashing of th wii.
