Once the next generation of Pogeymanz comes out the 3DS market will truly erupt and then there will be a flood of new games for it.

It's practically common sense. This is the reason I do not buy a console the first year it is out, because it would inevitably gather dust along with the marginally decent launch games until about the same time next year, making it a huge waste of money when compared to the ollowing year's price cut of probably nearly half the original price.
I wonder when exactly the next Pokemanz will come out. The Pokemon team is really clining onto the DS, like they don't want to start developing for the 3DS. But it'll come out soon, just probably not as quick as Diamond and Pearl came out.
To be fair the next generation will probably not be for at least another year and a half, and I doubt that it will be as much of a deal. I mean they have 648, they can't make them forever. However I think pokemon itself is one of the greatest ideas in the history of children's entertainment and marketing. Here are two almost identical games with small differences which require interaction with somebody with the other copy to get the maximum enjoyment from it. Cue every kid in elementary school bringing their gameboy talking about who has the best starter and showing eachother and fighting eachother in game with their team. And the anime that existed along with it was perhaps the most genius concept to get children involved with it. every 10 year old gets a pet with super powers and you go on an epic journey, meets other kids who did this and compete to be world champion while making tons of friends. Then the game essentially lets every kid with a gameboy follow along like they were Ash ketchum.

But yeah, I think that's where most of the 3ds', hell all of the Nintendo handhelds charm comes from. It isn't just a game, it's like a little subculture among children. Everyone is so into it and being a part of the adventure or story they can talk about it forever.

OT: I have 4 games for my 3ds, and I totally love it. It's not even significantly different or anything it's just fun to use and play, the 3d feature is actually functional and adds a little something so long as you can really get into the game itself.

Uh well for me I'd say yes. We didn't have the money for an N64, and I didn't get any gameboy for that matter either. I mean that said, I really don't regret my childhood of running through the woods Calvin and Hobbes style.
Anyways, yeah. I just finished Ocarina of Time for the first time ever, and I've been stumbling around in Pokemon, which is pretty cool. Knowing what my friends are talking about first hand is pretty neat :)

Oh also, if anyone could suggest DS and 3DS games they've enjoyed, or maybe retro eshop things that I should definitely try out, that would be super cool!

So far the library for both Vita and 3DS are still rather unimpressive in my opinion. Sure, I could pay 150 bucks to get a 3DS and another 30-40 for Ocarina Of Time, or I can plug in my N64.

Mostly been using it for the DS backlog, but i have played Mario 3D Land and Kid Icarus Uprising. There's also been a bunch of surprisingly good downloadable games like Mighty Switch Force, Sakura Samurai and Pushmo.

I do wish Nintendo would start releasing GBA games for the virtual console, but so far I've had enough content for it to be worth it. Plus there's all the games coming out for it like Luigi's Mansion and Fire Emblem. Plus the sequel to 999.

I found it considerably more worth it than the PlayStation Vita. It has several awesome games AND the entirety of the DS library to back it up.

But I ended up getting mine after the price cut. The irony? I paid the same price I would've paid before the price cut.

Why?

(I cannot for the life of me remember how to embed pictures)
My friend got that one too, he traded in his original to get it. Also
to embed.

OT: I'd say it's worth it. My favourites so far are Tales of the Abyss and Kingdom Hearts. I got it before the price drop (got it on release) so I got 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games. The game library is still growing, but it's already become quite good. I am looking forward to see Paper Mario come.

It's alright not the best console ever but thats becouse pokemon and smash bros isn't out yet I only have 3 games for it SM3DL Zelda and Kid Icarus they are all really good the only thing wrong with it is the battery life the e-shop has fewer games than I would hope and they are overpriced here in New Zealand $10 for a NES game is too much for me other than regional difficultys (no netfilx or huluplus) it is fine I just wish they would make a YouTube app for it so I can watch Yogscast and old zero punctuation on it.

I got mine as a gift, Ive only bothered to buy one game for it (ocarina of time) which I havent got around to completing yet (finished it on the 64 years ago) I suppose if I had payed for it i'd be slightly disappointed by the selection of games available for it at this point.

I never turn the 3D on for longer than a few seconds because it makes me feel like my eyeballs are melting.. its usually: 'I wonder what that looks like in 3D' (on) 'cool..' (off)

Theres not really any games out for it that appeal to me yet, At some point I'll probably buy pokemon black/white but it kinda sucks that the only game that I've been meaning to buy for it is a DS title.

Im waiting for them to make a proper 3DS Pokemon game that has some significant improvements to the same game they've been remaking for the past 15 years

So I got mine the DAY before the price drop (which I was super upset about, cuz the same day the red one came out in the states) And I got to thinking if it was worth my money.
For whatever reason, Target had applied the price drop the day before it was supposed to. So I not only got my blue 3DS for the reduced price but I got it as an Ambassador. Sorry you couldn't grab one for less *pat pat*

Anyway: I've been using my 3DS a bit more than my home consoles. I've clocked about 95 hours on Theatrythm and have beaten the two Mario titles that don't involve go-karts (although I think I did beat MK7...). I got my hands on Kingdom Hearts 3DS but I'm having trouble sticking with it like Birth by Sleep or the original (ie: the only other two I've played). Other than the Mario and Final Fantasy games I mentioned before, I got a lot of mileage out of Samurai Warrior Chronicals. The 3D was kind of wasted but it looks fantastic for a launch title on a handheld (especially considering I got it new for under $13)

I can't speak for everyone obviously but my 3DS is definitely worth the money I paid for it. I'm planning on importing a Japanese XL for the Hatsune game, Love Plus and, the River City Ransom anniversary they've got over there...also Monster Hunter and whatever else they have that we won't be getting.
Same here my 360 is gathering dust while I haven't turned off my 3DS in like months. Since TotA came out at least.

NO, that's why I traded it in after transferring my ambassador status.

My 3DS XL though? F*** YES! I love it so much I am even replaying my old DS games again.
