I fear that Nintendo Power and the like, while excellent fan-magazines, occasionally become little more than corporate propoganda. Joe, in your article you even use the phrase "winning the hearts and minds..." ...the mantra of psychological WARFARE! The editorial you quoted in OPM doesn't sound like an admission of Nintendo's superiority or the even the Playstation's focused market frustration- it's good editorialism. It's not adhering to corporate mission statements and talking points, it's saying... "look, we're all gamers here; here's a good game we'd like to see on the system we love."
I still have that old issue #1 of Nintendo Power, and I remember reading it as a kid (after Grandma was done with it.) I also remember believing Stevie Davidson, the big third grader, when he told me that menstration is when girls have to drink special blood that keeps them from getting pregnant. It's all about how you sell the message, man.
