They use that term because a medical opinion is an appraisal of the condition of an individual. All estimates are opinions. A hypothesis is a guess, an educated guess, but still a guess. Oh and guess what a guess is synonymous with an opinion...Oh wait.
You have me there. In certain contexts, the word guess and opinion can mean the same thing.

For example:
"It is my guess that there are 567 M&M's in that jar."
or
"It is my opinion that there are 567 M&M's in that jar."
In these two sentences, the words "opinion" and "guess" have the same meaning. However, this is not always the case.

For example:

"It is my opinion that the 360 controller is the best on the market."
or
"It is my guess that the 360 controller is the best on the market."
These two sentences mean completely different things because, in this context, the words "guess" and "opinion" mean two different things.

The latter example is the context in which this argument is using the term opinion. Therefore, your point is irrelevant.

It looks pretty much the same as the one I've got....wait....yeah, pretty much the same.

What's the issue? I didn't really think there was an issue with asymmetrical controllers.
Anyway, really, it's the controllers that mainly set the PS3 and Xbox apart, aestetically anyway.

The point of the 360 controller is it copied off the Dreamcast controller but added an extra stick and removed the good D-Pad for an absolutely shite one...and added 2 extra buttons at the top
And made the analog sticks not handle like a backside. And added an extra set of shoulder buttons. And changed the shape. And added a select/back button. And added a console/home button. And got rid of the screen/memory slot. And made it wireless.

How the hell is it a copy? Because it uses a similar colour scheme? Even then, the colours of the buttons are in the totally wrong places. :S

I love the Xbox 360 controller, fits perfectly into my hand.

It's all a matter of getting used to it tough. Doesn't matter what console.
Wise man.

I wonder though, is anyone used to both PS3 and Xbox controllers? For me I have to admit the Xbox controller sort of bugs me, though that's simply as you said, because I play PS3.
You are not you are in a contrller nutshell.

The 360 does not cause strain on most people's joints, because it is actually more aligned with the resting position of your thumb, the lower section of the controller you have to extend your thumbs down to reach.
You don't want it at the resting position as the resting position is at the extremes of the thumb joint's range of motion.
I completely disagree, if playing for long periods of time, it is much easier on the muscles for the neutral position of the stick to be at your hand's resting position.

But... it's still horrible. Pass me a PS3 controller any day. Years of Playstation gaming have made me fine with them. besides, even back in the day I never got any aches and pains from them. The 360 one however, is just horrible (and battery powered. Fools).

I really, really like the 360 controller just the way that it is. There's no need for something like that. Xbox owners have been using the typical Xbox controller for too long to be able to adapt to something like that.

It shows how sad the state of Xbox 360 controllers is when the only pad with symmetrical analog sticks is one where the left stick and d-pad are reversible.

I'm happy though, my left wrist is starting to really hurt from dealing with the 360 pads, and it's nice to finally find a controller that solves the issue.
why would you want that its worse for your hands?

Well Ive only read the first couple pages. But it seems that you can't accept any opinion other than your own.
Anyway I have no idea were your coming from. Because the 360 controller is the best Ive ever used.(used them all)

What do you mean?

Edit: How do you mean is a more accurate question.

I cant stand symmetrical analog sticks, it makes my right thumb cramp after a while.
This is why i don't own a PS3.

The 360 controller is ergonomic. The Dpad on a 360 controller is used for very nominal tasks, such as swapping grenade types or bringing the map up and even then most of the time I have found those functions are mapped to the analog stick clickers. The controller is comfortable and just the right size. The first XBOX controller ( the launch one not the redesigned "S" one) was HORRIBLE.

My troll sense is tingling a bit with this one tho.

I consider myself to be used to both of them, due to buying games for both my 360 and PS3. Although admittedly if I don't play on one of the consoles for a while, it takes an hour or so of playing to get accustomed to it again.

Id rather swap out batteries and keep playing wireless then have to plug my controller in. Oh and on the battery pack, I can go 3 or 4 days with one charge on heavy gaming. so this is a non issue for anyone who has them.

That's an interesting solution. I remember trying something similar with the GameCube controller in MarioKart. Could you post a picture of how you hold it?
Here ya go, in spoilers.
