You did sound a little too shocked that people were doing things against the rules though, Sorry I jumped to conclusions. I swear the rules on thread derailment and such are broken every two seconds and nothing ever happens. Yeah, I'm still kind of new here, so I don't really know how strict stuff is, so sorry for making a big deal about it if that's something that nobody generally cares about.

Anyway, on-topic, I remember seeing this series awhile back and reading some of it, but I didn't continue and I barely remember anything about it, so I guess I didn't really see the appeal. Or got distracted by a shiny object. Hard to say. Guess I could check it out again, but meh.

Nope: "It's not my fault I'm not Popular" is a way better translation.

Care to explain that? I can understand it as a localization decision and I think it makes a better title (although I would probably have gone with 'It's You Fault I'm Not Popular'), but I don't think it's the most accurate representation of what's being said in the Japanese.

I'm enjoying that one so far, It's a funny little gag manga with a main character that I can identify with and an almost sadistic sense of humor. I do tend to enjoy those kinds of protagonists, the ones that I can relate to and empathize with, yet I sort of don't want to relate to or empathize with them because the character is just so unlikable and probably had what was coming to them, i.e. Welcome to the NHK, etc.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming anime.

The danger of translating that as you did is that it conveys the message that this particular person is interested in non-sexual kind of popularity. In things such as friends or non-romantic other-sex relations...which is not the case. The core issue of the title is that the girl is not wanted as a girlfriend. She may be the most popular girl in school and still may be seen as no good girlfriend material.

I see, but all I'm saying is that as someone who doesn't know a lick of Japanese I don't really see that making much big of a difference. Reading the manga, I still get the gist of what she's going through. The fact that she wants to be "popular with the boys" rather than "popular with people in a non-sexual manner" just doesn't seem to make that huge of an impact on whether I'll understand the story or not, and it just kinda comes across as rather nitpick-y to me, and from reading it I get the sense that she wants both friends and men. I thought "Popular" was vague enough to indicate either or, but that's just me. I simply don't care as much, as I thought the title was a pretty accurate indication of what I got.
