It came out of nowhere and made love to my eardrums.

About half a year ago, I was searching for entertaining animations on Newgrounds when all of a sudden I came across an animation titled "Ignorance is Bliss," which seemed to be fairly highly rated. When I decided to watch it, I found myself completely taken aback by the music that went along with this Super Mario-themed animation. And I mean this in a good way. I looked up the band behind the song, Jellyfish, and found that they were a great band with fantastic songs. Hell, I'm listening to them as I type this.

Have you ever been in this sort of situation, not even thinking about broadening your musical horizons, when all of a sudden a great band you've never heard of comes out of nowhere and smacks you in the face (in a good, painless way)? If so, post your story if you care to share it.

That's actually how I got introduced to Breaking Benjamin. Since two of their songs were used in wrestling games that my brother bought. Same with MCR and Burnout 3, actually.

Um, seeing as I listen to nothing but classical, what happens in my situation is I listen to a piece that I haven't heard by Beethoven or Mozart or whoever and I'm like "My god... I wish I'd heard this earlier!" At the moment, Beethoven's Violin Concerto is the most recent piece to do that to me. I could not believe how beautiful the cadenza is in this piece. (Not actually in the video, but hey).

Been really getting into Electric Six recently, after my friend invited me to a concert of theirs in a month. He said I'm going to the concert with him, I said yes even though i've never heard of the guys, checked out a few of their songs on youtube, and have been listening to them every day for the last few weeks.

Back when the heaviest music I knew about was Metallica's Load album, my friend showed me Slayer's Reign In Blood album. I was sold on the first riff of Angel Of Death, and have since hailed metal as the greatest genre of music to ever grace my ears.

More recently, I heard of Diablo Swing Orchestra on a blog site. Everyone in the comments seemed to love it, so I gave them a listen. Again, I was sold since the first song. Just give them a listen, I don't feel like describing what their music is.

Also; I'm sure a lot of you have seen -or at least heard the music in- the trailer for LittleBigPlanet. Well, this is the song they used. This band is quite interesting; I've always enjoyed the odd music nobody ever mentions.

Which reminds me, there's yet one more band I'm going to mention with a story.
While out on a WikiWalk, I stumbled upon a page listing a bunch of Avant-Garde bands. One of them in particular, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, caught my eye. I was on MSN at the time, chatting with friends. I thought I'd find a song by this crazy band and show it to my friends, hoping to get a quick laugh. Well, as it turns out, this band happened to be awesome. Here's the first song on their debut album. To the patient ear, this band is one of the most interesting bands one can ever listen to. I'd urge anyone to buy any of SGM's CDs and check out the music, lyrics, and artwork this band has to offer.

You probably Know whis but Check Out the 4 Seasons by Vivaldi. There awesome. Also a Fave i have right now is By Liszt. Liebestraum No.3
I have all of those pieces, I think I've listened to that by Liszt but I'm not sure now. Surpisingly enough, I'm not that big a fan of the Four Seasons (although the first movement of Spring is amazing). I've founds heaps of other violin concertos I like better (Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Mozart's 9th) etc.

I got into music and anime through a similar thing actually. It was not long after we got the internet at home when (I was about 12) that I was doing the whole searching thing when I remembered a game I played when I was 6 at my cousin's and was trying to learn more about it. so the game was castlevania 2 which eventually flowed into alucard to hellsing. then from there i found a 3d game design project someone put together set to the power metal band hammerfall leading to a now 8 year obsession with metal music and a love for the rare anime series. Proving that my life is just one big flow chart

Ooh, another example. I was looking up any videos on YouTube concerning Vampire Hunter D when I came across "Sober" by Tool, which led to me looking up their other songs, which led to them becoming my favorite band.

My brother listens to a very wide variety of music. I just throw whatever he puts on my laptop onto my iPod(I have the extra space, might as well fill it up.) That's pretty much how I find out about new bands. Like Flogging Molly or Protest the Hero. I also found a great track on Newgrounds by playing a flash game. Its called [Runaway].

That's how I was introduced to all of my favorite artists.
My friend listened to Blink 182, so I started to and I loved them.
Another friend listened to SoaD, and I liked that, and still listen to it today.
I watched a video on youtube and the backing music was 1,000,000 by NIN, and they're my favorite band.
