Eh.

TBH, most of the time someone is complaining about constantly hearing about something, it's something I've not heard of.

For about six months all I knew about Justin Bieber was that loads of people kept going on about him, specifically how annoying it was that loads of people kept going on about him. Later I discovered he was a Canadian.

Ok, now you've made me google Miley Cyrus to see what she's done that I've not heard of but which apparently everyone is talking about.

Scroobius Pip is kinda cornball. And yeah, celebrity culture isn't for a lot of people, but I don't see why other people shouldn't enjoy it. It isn't inherently harmful, it just brings into focus elements of our culture which would definitely still exist even if it was illegal to be famous.

Lol. I didn't even know there was a VMA-show this week. Why is there a fuss over this? It's the same as when Britney was kissed bij Madonna on stage or that time when Janet Jackson showed one of her boobs to the world... The whole internet freaks out. To be honest this 'news-item' is in no way important in anyway, and should be ignored.

Firstly, this is the internet, you are never alone. Secondly, I am currently rolling watching news because I actually care about the Syrian crisis, thirdly...

The fact that there are celebrities is an incredibly interesting phenomena. Honestly, getting too angry about it is pretty pointless.

Getting all pent up and angry about stuff just eats away inside you,
What's that other line of yours?
'If you can't forgive and forget, how's this?
Forget forgiving and just accept that that's it.'
See that's how it's gotta be,
Then you can fall in love, get on with your life, and be free."

Just let it lie. Some people care about celebrities, most people really do not. If you are getting angry about the coverage that Cyrus and the like are getting, maybe start watching Russia Today, Al Jazeera English, BBC, I dunno about CNN these days. Let the people have their circuses.

Honestly, considering there is fucking NOTHING we can do about Syria, why not just stare at a celebrities arse?

Only reason I learned about this whole Cyrus-badabing is 'cause bearly political made a parody of her video.

But Korolev more or less nailed it. Democracy don't work because people as a whole is too occupied with their own lives to care about the bigger picture, and media is just making Money of it.

And I too didn't know what twerking was Before this.

That's an amusingly judgmental post in regards to people who pay attention to inconsequential things. And it does this while also railing against those who judge others.
I know right.

OT: I like celebrities. They give people hope that maybe one day they can get rich and have a better life. I agree that their live's shouldn't be made into spectacles for public viewing, especially child actors. If you want out don't buy the Sun and don't go twitter, youtube or whatever, if you ignore the culture you won't notice it. Unplug and free your mind.

Yeah it's just you. I asked everybody on planet earth for you, they are all in agreement. We all care about it. Only you, the rebel, don't care. If one more person starts out a sentence with, "is it just me or." I am going to bake the worlds biggest corn dog. Then I am going to beat you to death with it. When people ask how you died, I will tell them. They will try not to laugh, I hope they do. Maybe, just maybe, you will be the first person to ever be beaten to death with a corn dog.

Not a big fan of celebrity news and all that junk, not even a big fan of celebrities to begin with. If people like to follow what their favorite celebrities are doing that is fine, but I could care less that a Hollywood couple is going to have a child, or get married, divorced, going on a trip, etc. Though it's easy to avoid all this stuff at least.

I think you need soma. Come here, little guy. Come here....

OT- It's not just you. I think the better question is why is there such an emphasis on this in the media? I think that's the better question to ask first, as no one will admit to this when you spell it out first.

I hate this culture too. I dunno why I keep hearing of things that make me want to have my own island....
There's such an emphasis on it in the media because so many people care about it and watch it. The media companies are only providing a product that many people actually want, although I can't understand why. It bothers me a little when I think about it but it's here to stay as long as some people want to forget about how much their lives suck and rag on celebrities for their shortcomings to make themselves feel better. That's why I just do my best to ignore it and forget it exists, luckily no one I hang around really cares about it either.

This is getting far more attention than the fact that a dictator is killing his own citizens with gas attacks and we (USA and UK) could be potentially be sending servicemen and women to syria and risking countless more lives
Firstly we don't actually know that Assad is yet and won't for a few more days at the very least. No matter how grim the backdrop there's only so far you can spin 'hang on, we're pondering shit over' as a news topic. A lot of what I've seen on the celebrity article are actually comment pieces (including some unintentionally hilarious ones at the Guardian). There's an equal number of Syria pieces but they're more generalised because there's so little actual news on that.

Secondly people can actually know about multiple things at once. It's why newspapers have so many pages.

Wouldn't say I hate it. I nothing it or don't give a fuck. Well, enough of a fuck to post this I guess. Mostly, I just don't understand people's obsession with celebrities. What did Miley Cyrus actually do of interest this week, besides dance awkwardly from what I've heard?

OP was a disappointment. I was expecting an actually different viewpoint or opinion from a title like that, not one that nearly everyone has.

Seriously. We sell gossip rags at work, and not only do we sell about two a day (hundreds of customers daily), but people actively snark at the magazine rack very often.

Egh. I love how Miley Cyrus said "I wanna do something that will make people talk", and goddamn it, she did it. Literally all the talking is about how horrible the performance was/how terrible she is/about how much we don't give a damn about Miley Cyrus (I mean, isn't it obvious?) but we're talking, dammit!

I just googled Miley Cyrus to see what you were talking about. Honestly I didn't even hear of this before you mentioned it. Goes to show all you need to do is watch less TV. At least nobody I know talks about this.
even without tv you could guess that everything that disney touches becomes slutty when they get older.

like some slutty midas touch.

To me that would be like, the one thing better than usual Midas' Touch. Although, with a heap of gold you could also easily get tons of sluts, and you'd also have a bunch of stuff that's gold.
Oh! Or dragons! Yeah, dragons Midas' Touch, that's the one.

OT: Miley who? Seriously, the only thing I know about this particular harlot is that she has one of the worst haircuts in showbiz since Brittney Spears' shaved dome.

Speaking of which, time for tunes!

Celebrity- A waste of attention for those who idolise people for the purpose of idolising people, somewhat similar to the idea that some people believe in god simply to believe in something greater than them, a means to reassure our tiny place in the world be seeing or believing in something that has more than we do.

I hate it, i hate it a lot. It gets even worse when your country has less than 3 million people and recycles a bunch of so called celebrities for everything, even if they have no business being there. Because of that and the fact that our movie translators ruin everything they touch i didn't even bother to buy a new TV when the old one broke.

I don't hate it, I just don't pay attention to it. I couldn't identify Snookie from a picture the other day, and apparently that makes me strange. But I like strange. Strange is interesting.

I do loathe some celebrities, but mostly because they're despicable.

Isn't that enough?

It appears to be enough.

My Facebook feed is lined up with people outraged, but from what I can gather,a ll she did was do a stupid dance in clothes that were considered "skimpy" when I was 12 but not so much anymore.
