[HEADING=1]Every 1000 posts, an avatar is born![/HEADING]
Good day, ladies and gentlemen! I'm so glad you all decided to click on this thread title, no doubt wondering what the hell could be happening again that would involve an avatar. Well, I will be sure to tell you as you would be left in the dark about this whole contest now would you?
---------------------------------------------------
It is a tradition that has been passed down absolutely no generations so far, and only started the first time I achieved 1000 posts. You see, my very first avatar [http://i44.tinypic.com/2jeyd4x.gif] quickly grew bored of me and decided to venture off into other territories. Being sick of him to, I decided to create another avatar [http://i40.tinypic.com/24m85xe.gif]. This just so happened to be my 1000th post.
But even then, I still hungered, still desired another avatar. After 1000 posts, 3000 posts at the time, I created yet another avatar [http://i44.tinypic.com/2hphyzd.gif] and this one by far was the most favorable once of any ones I've done (approved by NewClassic [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/NewClassic] no less!)
By this time, I had pretty much run out of ideas for new avatars to entertain the masses. Oh sure, I had thought of one or two, but those ideas failed miserably as I had hardly animated with the Animation Program [http://www.snapfiles.com/get/stickfigure.html] I used (I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to start in basic animation). So, it was at this time I decided to ask The Escapist community for ideas at the last avatar contest (I'd link it, but for the life of me I can't find it).
Suffice to say, it was a moderate success. I had gotten a few ideas and the judges (did I mention there were judges?) all chose very good suggestions for me to use, with proper credit given where credit would be due of course.
As a result of this, the avatar that came to be is the avatar you see now. A stickguy putting a gun to his head, shooting it, the screen turning the opposite color, another stickguy comes along, does the same thing, then the color goes back to normal, and it loops continually. Sure it didn't seem like a great avatar, but the community had spoken and so I had made it and overall it turned out nice.
From that point on, I decided that I'd let The Escapist community dictate what avatar I should wear next. Of course, it had to follow a certain set of rules.....
-----------------------------------------------
[HEADING=2]Rules of this Contest![/HEADING]
-The Avatar must be seeable in 75x75 format. That is the maximum resolution The Escapist allows in avatars. TO CLARIFY This is a rule to give you a sense of depth. It DOES NOT mean you have to make it yourself, it is simply to show you that the avatar must not be overly complicated or you cannot see anything in the 75x75 box the avatar is in.
-The suggestion must include a stickman. This is a pinnacle of all of my current avatars, each one of them has had a stickperson in it. The main reason is to keep from people being confused once the avatar changes, so if they see a stickman they know that it's Jumplion who is speaking.
-The suggestion must be appropriate for The Escapist. I'm not going to have an avatar with two stickpeople fucking each other, however hilarious that may be. So don't even suggest it. Some stretches may be made, but no extremes, I don't want to have an avatar with a stickperson pooping on another's chest...
-The suggestion must be simple. Avatars are supposed to be simple and easy to look at. People will appreciate a simple stickman waving his hand than some random crap going on with explosions, action, and general nonsensical stuff that you can't see in a 75x75 box (See rule 1). You can get complicated if you want, but for the most part try to keep it simple.
-There is no limit to the amount of suggestions a person can make. If you want to suggest 5 different avatars, go right on ahead.
[HEADING=3]And most importantly![/HEADING]
Have fun with it!
Stickpeople are a crazy breed, so who knows what could happen? They ski down mountains, they jump off buildings, they use lightsabers, whatever! Be creative with it, but once again try not to make it too complicated (See rule 4)
--------------------------------------------------
[HEADING=2]The Judges![/HEADING]
As like last contest, there will be judges in this contest. The judges choose their favorite suggestion from the thread and send it off to me. I then make another thread with a poll that has the suggestions in it, and have the community vote on which avatar they like the best. Last year Strafe Mcgee [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Strafe+Mcgee] won I believe, but this year it's all up for grabs.
Without further adeu, let's meet the judges!
-NewClassic [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/NewClassic].
-The Grey Wolf [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/The+Grey+Wolf].
-prettynothings [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/prettynothings].
-D_987 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/D_987].
You're all free to bribe them, that'll make things more interesting
These four judges will pick the suggestion that they like the best and send it off to me. Then I will make a brand new thread with a poll attached to it and the suggestions in the poll.
The judges are required to give the name of the person suggesting it so that credit will be given where credit is due.
----------------------------------------
Obviously the winner will have their avatar suggestion created by me and shown to the masses of The Escapist! Credit will be given where credit is due.
[HEADING=2]This thread willself-distruct close about a week from now![/HEADING]
You have until Friday, June 19, 2009 to pitch in your suggestions for a new avatar!
The above (^^^) has been changed to a later unanounced date. Feel free to submit suggestions if you choose to
Follow the rules, be creative, and have fun with this! The polled thread will be created shortly after the suggestions are given to me by the judges and the suggestion line being over.
[HEADING=1]Have fun everyone[/HEADING]
[HEADING=2]~Jumplion[/HEADING]
[HEADING=3]Edit 1:[/HEADING]
I am not asking anyone to make an avatar for me. I simply want suggestions, that is all. This is supposed to be a fun mini-contest, nothing to be taken seriously. Last 1000 posts it worked out relatively well so I decided to do it again this 1000 posts.
[HEADING=3]Edit 2:[/HEADING]
I have edited the first rule as that has caused some confusion. "This is a rule to give you a sense of depth. It DOES NOT mean you have to make it yourself, it is simply to show you that the avatar must not be overly complicated or you cannot see anything in the 75x75 box the avatar is in."
[HEADING=3]Edit 3:[/HEADING]
Due to the thread not catching up at first, I have decided to remove the deadline to a later date that I havn't thought out of yet. So, go ahead and suggest if you so wish to.
