I've yet to encounter all these vista problems.
That's because they were all invented by Mac users...

All I ever get from it is the constant asking if I'm sure I want to use the program I just selected.

Well, we can't deny that Apple makes great computers.
This is subjective.
Most will even say they're better than PC (hell, I agree).
This is a generalisation.

Did i mention that most people who deny that Apple makes great computers are either ignorant, stupid or both? I think we have a good example of one of those people now. Thanks TheGhostOfSin.
This is an unfounded generalisation with some flame on top.

Again, subjective.
Annoyance. Vista vs. Mac OS X. That's all i got to say.
Another generalisation. In my personal experience, I've never crashed using Vista. Internet Explorer has frozen a handful of times, but that's because it's Internet Explorer (I don't enjoy Firefox).

My opinion? I dislike Macs because of their Mac Vs. PC ads. The ads showcase less why you should buy a Mac and more why you shouldn't buy a PC. In my eyes, I see this as the Mac being a troll.

Want some well constructed arguements? See Babytea and NewClassic's posts above.

I want a new laptop (god forbid I'll be able to afford one... but I digress...) and all of our previous computers have been fucked by viruses in the past. I want a laptop that has these features:

Very good at:
Internet surfing
Playing and downloading music and videos
Playing downloaded games (like SNES/Gameboy emulators and I Wanna Be The Guy)

Won't get viruses
And has an easy interface
Won't crash very often

Can Macs do all these? Help a gal out here.

I'm a PC user myself, but Macs do have their merits. I like the pre-installed software (Especially Garage Band and iMovie) and the interface does look pretty cool, but that's about as far as my liking of them goes. They can't run most games (Neither can my laptop, but that's just because it's old), the whole one button thing is very annoying to me. People always said I'd get used to it if I used it more. I spent all of sixth form using one for school. I still hate it, let me right click without holding a damn key down!

Another thing I dislike is (and this is probably a feature that can be disabled, I never bothered check) is the screen dimming. Every time I want to watch a YouTube video or something on a Mac, I have to repeatedly tap the touch pad so the screen doesn't go dim. Very annoying stuff.

And of course the most important thing, Macs are more expensive. You can get a PC with the same specs as a Mac for at least a couple hundred dollars less. And way more than a couple hundred less if you build one yourself.

PC has it's problems, but so does Mac. Stop blindly worshiping something just because that guy from Die Hard 4 said so.

Why did you buy a Mac as opposed to a PC?
I second this question, and not as an attack on Macs, but just what attracted you to them.
To tell the truth; because the PC and the Mac Pro were very similarly powered it came down to one simple difference... the mac can run windows. I know you can get OSX to run on a PC, but it's a fairly complicated hack. So now I have a computer that I am not limited to what I can do with it. I can do all my work and animation on the Mac side, and game on the Windows side.

I would also like to invite some pro Mac users to discuss on here and answer questions about Macs.
I would say that 90% of computer users disagree with you.
Just because computers are in the majority does not make them superior. Macs are better in every aspect

I "think" MacBooks fit that well (not sure about emulators), but a healthy laptop will too. There probably is more to consider though such as cost and the possibility of other functions you may need your laptop to perform later.

And congratulations for having the only constructive post in this thread, actually asking something about Mac products rather then comparing wang size.

Susceptibility to viruses. Macs are almost completely immune. Whereas computers you either have to buy extra virus protection or expect you're computer to be infected within 30 seconds of internet use.
Ha! The internet isn't the battleground the media wants you to think it is. I have no extra virus protection and have yet to notice a single virus. My computer is still running blazingly fast and I am having no problems. Also, Macs have no Anti-Virus protection at-all. If any hacker decided to make a virus for a Mac, you'd all be screwed.

On another note, the boot-camp argument works against you here. When running Windows, you are equally suceptable to viruses as everyone else.

First of all Matey your on a gaming site. thus basically all of the expensive computer using people here will be on PC's since there are hardly any decent big games for Macs.

Second Macs are not as brilliant as you make them out too be and for the amount of money they cost that same amount could be put into building a far supperior computer.

Third, Macs are only doing well because they're seen as cool and bohemian and used by the great artistic of the modern age. this is due to their brainwashing advertising. they may have a large amount of programmes too help people in the music/design industry's but they are simply not as good as some open source versions of them.

My PC has been connected to the internet since I first got it. (Broadband and Fixed electric bill.) and the only virus protection I've ever had is AVG. (free)

Discounting MSN, which I consider a virus that can be used for IM, my PC is completely fine.

Very good at:
Internet surfing Any computer, any OS.
Playing and downloading music and videos Any computer, any OS.
Playing downloaded games (like SNES/Gameboy emulators and I Wanna Be The Guy) Easiest on Windows, more difficult but higher functionality on Linux, hardest and least supported on Macs

Won't get viruses Oh hell. Linux would be best for this. Any computer/OS can prevent viruses, though. Firewall, virus/spyware/adware scanners, and not using P2P like LimeWire.
And has an easy interface Some dystros for Linux, although not all. Windows and Macs are both fairly easy to use. Any OS.
Won't crash very often Every OS has it's quirks. Windows gets the most support, but has the most likely to go wrong. Mac crashes easily and inexplicably in some programs, and flies wonders in others. Linux is the least supported, since it's all individual-coded drivers and such, but has the least likely to go wrong.

Can Macs do all these? Help a gal out here.
Macs can, technically, but you're paying more for less computer. For example, taken directly from the Apple website [http://www.apple.com/macbook/]:
2.1GHz

* Intel Core 2 Duo
* 1GB DDR2 Memory
* 120GB hard drive1
* Intel GMA X3100 graphics
* Standard keyboard
* White polycarbonate shell

* Ships: Within 24hrs
* Free Shipping
* $999.00
* as low as $24.00 a month

From a quick scan of the site that pre-builds machines, here's the closest equivalent I could make:

DISPLAY LCD: 15.4" WXGA TFT Display 1280x800 Pixels 2.1" increase
CPU: Intel® Core? 2 Duo Mobile P8400 Dual-Core Processor @ 2.26GHz 1066FSB 3MB L2 Cache 446 Mhz upgrade
MOTHERBOARD: Intel® PM45 + ICH9M Chipset LGA775 16X PCI-E Platform Mainboard
MEMORY: 1GB PC6400 DDR2-800 SODIMM Memory (Corsair or Major Brand)
VIDEO CARD: Built-in ATI Mobile Radeon HD3470 256MB Video Saves your built-in RAM, so technically a 256 MB upgrade.
HARD DRIVE: 120GB 5400RPM SATA150 HARD DRIVE
OPTICAL DRIVE: 8X DVD REWRITABLE DRIVE
SOUND: BUILT-IN AC 97 SOUND

Price: $767.00
(before all applicable rebates)

So, essentially, you're getting upgraded hardware for $232 if you go PC. Assuming you want to go for a Linux, then knock $83 off of the total price, bringing you to $684.

So, it's all about making an informed decision. You can go cheaper [http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/977015/Acer-Aspire-AS4730-4857-14-1/], just understand what you're getting yourself into. No computer will ever be virus-proof, regardless of OS, so it's all about making the proper decisions.

Hope that helped.

Why did you buy a Mac as opposed to a PC?
Many reasons :

Performance. Macs are really performant computers and they always have been. Go to Apple.com and look up the Mac Pro, it's insane.
Not unlike any computer which you're willing to pay for. The more you pay,the better it is (of sorts) regardless of OS.
Esthetics. They also do look pretty nice and sleek.
Aren't all operating systems? Few would buy an Operating System that was as utilitarian as a DOS screen.
In this respect I would say the appearance to declare superiority is subjective.
Annoyance. Vista vs. Mac OS X. That's all i got to say.
Way to go, Captian Obvious! You've saved the day again!
Service. Apple has a great warranty and they replace almost without question. Not only that, they now will transfer all your files from your PC to a Mac when you make the purchase of one, free of charge.
Then again I like my files the way they are in mostly RAW formats, or windows proprietary codec-compressed files.
Marketing. I will admit I'm a slave to marketing, so are alot of people. And Apple knows how to present their stuff.
How does that mean they perform or "are" better?
I hear all this hearsay that Macs are the way of the future and are bette but never ever hear any convincing arguments that they truly are other than monstrous sales figures.
I for one am not falling into the fallacy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum].

You probably didn't give it a solid try, I run Ubuntu. I like it. Well mostly because IT DIDN'T COST A FORTUNE!

i think really its what you use your mac for, i see the mac being used in schools mainly, i have to say there very good when it comes to using instuments with them, but tbh i belive that alot of people will agree when i say that PC's are much better when it comes to games :D
