Master Chief is the best answer. He would win the war himself.

I'd like to see master chief fight a battalion of tanks at once. He'd hijack one then it'd catch a rocket up the bum and explode with him inside of it, which would kill him instantly.

He would never be facing a battalion of tanks. You would take him into Germany covertly to destroy Hitler with his bare hands. He wouldn't be fighting in Africa against Rommel's tanks you silly biscuit . The most amount of tanks he would face at once would be 2 or 3 and that's a worse case scenario.

Besides, if he can handle destroying tanks in the year 2552, I think he can handle destroying 1944 tanks. And besides, the guy is practically invincible.

Um, no, he isn't even nearly invincible. Bullets still hurt and kill him once they get through his shields, and a ton of conscripts firing away at your face with MP40s wear down shields pretty quick. Not to mention two or three tanks would still obliterate him, the covenant tanks are absolutely retarded. They are MORTARS, not tanks. Artillery pieces. Three Scorpion tanks (The UNSC ones, the ones that actually fire at you instead of up in the air) would slaughter master chief. Just as three panzers would. Or thirty or so conscripts, which he would be fighting in Germany.
