Okay so, here's my take Troopers.
Was it good? Kinda. Is it worth seeing? Absolutely!!
In the no spoiler section, the 'special features' at the beginning are too long. It was like 20mins of Casper and the writer doing very bad stand up and forced moments. Also not the best line when the writer says basically 'there wasn't much content in the book, so we just put that aside and focused on our story'.
The animation is pretty good, but either this was made for a Japanese audience and they dubbed it, or the audio-sync is terrible 'cause...wow. That's some bad lip sync.
It was cool they brought back Carl and Carmen, but they couldn't spring for the original actors?! Seriously?! What's Denise Richards doing that's more important than like 15 lines in a CGI movie?! And Neil...Neil, Neil, Neil...Psychic Gestapo was the role you were born to do!
Dizzy! Dizzy was cool! Yay Dizzy! Woohoo!
Solid Snake Johhny Rico was fun. Anyone who knifes a bug to death is cool in my book.
Got a few gripes. The attention to detail wasn't great. Like okay so they do the Iron-Man inside the helmet shots for the troopers, and as part of the HUD they have an ammo counter. And its not consistent per trooper per scene. One scene Trooper 1 is down to like 120 shots, and literally 30secs later he's up to 300. Also there are no shell casings flying out, despite the guns clearly having ejection ports. And some troopers just get better guns than others. Like that one dude gets a minigun AND a missile pod, while Trooper 1 gets a shitty SMG and wet tissue?! Just saying, who got what didn't seem to be merit based.

Okay so a new Sky-Marshal. And not only does she look like Emma Watson(to the extent I'm still convinced they got her to do the mo-cap work) but she's a ratings whore, desperate to keep her image and pander to the public more than act reasonably. Fake News, fake polls, obsessed with the new numbers, making grand statements to seem tough, ultimately engineering the events of the movie to get her poll numbers by defeating the bugs...Just saying, I was picking up what they were putting down.
Karl seems to have aged twice as much as the rest of them, 'cause he's like an old man in this. Also wow, boy has his powers grown.
The soldiers of Lost Patrol were...mixed. 101 I liked, Geo was okay, the one dude who says 'Its a good day to die' in the trailer dies I think? He's not in the end, but I wasn't sure which one he was that died. The Lieutenant is the worst. I hated him. Hated.
The Federation I know and love would have put a bullet in him after his 1st failed mission.
The chick was fun, if a little...fangirl? Also the bugs took them by surprise, but she still managed to get on full makeup and glittery lipstick. Still, acceptable.
Also poor that one guy who kept dying. You'll be missed, always dying man!
The plot is fine. Pretty obvious, but better than it needs to be. Also funny! Funny Funny funny! Stupid, childish, dumb schoolyard jokes about fucking, and asses and what not. Good stuff.
