It's confirmed. Mass Effect Three will have Multiplayer.

I bet I got ninja'd on this thread or made a repeat thread. Anyhow, it looks like Mass effect will have a multiplayer set aside from the main story.

"The new 4-player co-op missions take place outside of the single-player game, and aren't affected by your Mass Effect 1 or 2 saves. "Players can choose from a variety of classes and races, form an elite Special Forces squad, and combine their weapons, powers and abilities to devastating effect as they fight together to liberate key territories from enemy control." The multiplayer does tie into your single-player game in unspecified ways, offering "an alternative method" of achieving success in the main storyline."

The multiplayer is going to allow people to play mass effect as something other than shepard.

So ... I'm going to bet the bioware forums will, immediately after launch, be flooded with comments such as "why don't I have a kiss emote?"

I think it's worth noting that the team that developed the MP feature is separate from the one which has been working on the SP. Devs have been stressing that it has no impact on the people who choose solo only.

Bioware confirmed they have their usual team working on singleplayer, and a new team working on multiplayer.

There's no confirmation yet but a while ago the developers said they had no idea how to include a multiplayer mode in a game like this.So basically they haven't got anything yet, and it sounds to me like there won't be any multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 (unfortunately). It just seems too late for them to add it on, and they made it sound like they planned to do it in other games, but not in this one.

There's always hope though. Maybe they just want to keep it

secret for a while, or maybe they're still working on it. Hope for the best.

It's not unusual. It's been done before, and to series where multiplayer was even MORE out of place, and it's worked fantastically. I don't see why it wouldn't work here. Especially with the basic gameplay format that so easily lends itself to multiplayer gameplay.

I'm excited about it.

You misunderstand me; I'm not going to play it, not out of spite, but because I don't really enjoy mulitplayer, especially in games where the focus is on the single-player.

Wonderful! The game could actually be better because of the extra people working on it. I can't wait.
