It's March... where's the Mayhem?

So I get that a lot of people don't like March Mayhem due to the ammount of flame wars it creates and there's always complaints due to the same developers doing well every year based on their legacy despite producing no/average games that year, but c'mon Escapist, it's fun, the match-ups are usually interesting, and it's tradition! (and the reason I got drawn into the site beyond ZP, so I've always enjoyed it.)

I get that they may just want to start MM later this year, but usually they show the brackets in the last week of February. I'm getting worried now that we're in March, but there's still no Mayhem. Did I miss the memo about this?

What does everyone else feel about MM? And do you think we'll be seeing it this year?

Honestly, I hope they just give it a miss this year. It completely takes over the forms for the whole month, and is basically a giant waste of time.

And it brings out the stupid in people more than usual. Myself included.

Aw, that stinks. I guess that makes March Mayhem next year better in some way, you know, having to wait longer for it, preserving the flavour.

Though I do love helping people and making their Avatars have the March Mayhem upgrade.. so that's sad to see I may not get to do that for my fellow Escapists.

Me too! The more use the Avatar Store gets, the better. I enjoyed making all those avatars during the Christmas period, despite being late for it by a few days...

This might sound a little pathetic and fanboyish (which it probably kind of is) but I'm really disappointed by this news, because 2012 saw the release of two games that both shot straight up to the top of my list for 'Favorite Games Ever... Of All Time' (Namely The Walking Dead and Dishonored) and I was really kinda looking forward to having the chance to fly their flag this March.

Basically, the top 64 developers are pitted against one another in the Thunder Dome a voting contest. The 64 developers get paired off into the 32 brackets where they fight to the death everyone on The Escapist gets to vote to see which developer is their favorite. This process continues until only one is still alive one is crowned the victor.

Basically it's NCAA March Madness except the winners are determined via popular vote rather than a game of basketball.

As someone who has been here for a while, I'm incredibly disappointed that this isn't happening this year. Not to be dramatic but frankly, this is probably the worst thing that has ever happened in the history of everything to anyone ever...

Yeah, it had some ups and downs but as long as you didn't take it as life and death (like many people seem to), it was great fun. Watching Zynga take on Valve was one of the flamiest things I have ever seen...the horror....it...was......GLORIOUS!

Anyway, good riddance. The whole shebang wasn't a good idea since it just brings out the flamewars, fanboyism and generally the kind of people that make forums horrible.

Still, no tears shed here. It's been said already but I'll repeat: ALl it did was cause flame wars on the forums for a month and contributed absolutely nothing except a bit of ad revenue for the escapist.

Escapist becomes ban central--More people are banned during the month of March, than any other month of the year.

That sounds incredibly fun! I can think of a couple of posters who are hanging on by their fingernails.
