It's psychological!

Try to analyze the psychological reasoning behind why your favorite game is just that. No "because it's fun!" answers. What in your brain finds it so appealing? Doesn't have to be incredibly deep, or even real, just think, if there was a deep reason that makes yoe prefer that one game above all others, what would it be?

For me, I'm going to say that Kingdom Hearts appeals to me in story and gameplay for being the tale of a boy seeking adventure and greater things. When things get really bad, he is able to rise to the challenge, fighting alongside his friends and finally come far enough in his quest that he manages to save the entire universe. The Disney element allows me to sustain my inner child, who I fear losing. Part of that was made up on the spot, but given what I know of myself, I think it fits.

And Yours?

Chrono Cross. My first RPG and to this day my absolute favorite. The story was amazing to me, i remember playing it with my dad so much as a kid. The side stories and all the different characters and their different personalities. The element system and the different combinations you could do. The emotional connection i felt with the main character and all the twists and turns i followed him on.

Damn it i miss that game.
Strategy guide is sitting right by me, but the game itself is at my dads.
Don't even have a ps1, though.

Halo 3.
The power weapon system appeals to me (Probably something about me getting jollies destroying people with hammers and rocket launchers), the story is about the lone hero saving the universe, the gameplay is top notch, and the multiplayer makes the game last quite a long time.

System Shock 2
I have no idea how they did it but the game manages to create emotion towards the few characters there are, even with limited tech. Also the relationship between Shodan and The Hacker, is one of the best that's ever been in a video game.
Also it's one of only 3 games i've actually found frightening

Devil May Cry 3. It is cathartic, fast paced, and witty. All things I am not. I also liked the fact that it appealed to many different play styles.

My favourite game (not including Bioware RPGs cuz they are all auto number 1) would be Fallout 3/Vegas.

Simply because i can go at my own fucking pace and appreciate the moments of silence between gunfights, take notes BlOps throwing me into about 5 different fights in 10 minutes is not good pacing!

Also i like maxing a skill while i'm lvl 3, just to feel more epic... Until Mr & Mrs Cazador pops out... Fucking dicks

Silent Hill 2
And the Resident Evil 1 remake on the gamecube
Everything else just feels like an action game with uglier enemies

Tales of Symphonia. It's my favorite game because I was able to care about the characters early on and really feel like I was on an adventure with them. The story is amazing (IMO) and it's the only game that has made me cry both in sadness and joy in only a few minutes. I've always loved customization and ToS has just the right amount for me and the unique battle system makes the fights feel more tactical.

Fallout 3, just because subconciously wrecking stuff up with big guns makes me feel better about stuff.

There are really cheap copies online. Also, buy a PS3, if you don't already have one, you have no excuse.

IDK, I cant think of what my favorite game is... I suppose I could say that Im a more open and accepting gamer, thus I never really limited myself to a particular genre or game.

Metal Gear Solid 3. I love the idea of going through an area without anyone noticing me

Plus, the Cold War is cool

The boss fights tend to break up the stealth nicely as well.

It really is because it's fun. My favourite game is the favourite because I play it the most.

I'll have "temporary favorites" from time to time and completely ignore all others. If I had to pick one of all time, however, I would have to go with Fire Emblem. I consider the entire series one game as the reasons I like it are the same regardless of the particular story.

I enjoy it because of the perfect balance it has of strategy and RPG. I have yet to find a game that can rival it, Advance War lacks the RPG aspect for me. Final Fantasy Tactics is close but has a bit too much going on for me to put it above FE. The only one I have heard of that is similar that I have not tried is Shining Force.
