I have recently ignited a deep love of One Piece, after discovering the dark, evil grip that 4kids had around it's throat. To any of you who don't understand what I mean, One Piece is insanely popular over in japan, however when dubbed for the west 4kids attempted to change into an entirely kid focused anime, from bad overly silly dubs, to removing a black character.... I wish I was joking.
All so Pirates are cool :p

I made this thread for anyone who wants to recommend a good anime, or in general give a few tid bits of information about one.

Not the most direct discussion ever, but I hope this thread turns out well :D
I love one piece I'm around episode 160 right now and its pretty awesome.

I've seen and like too much anime and manga to mention here, I'll say Ben-to is my favorite this season.

Maken-ki is a little to slow and ecchi for my taste.

I've been watching some Outlaw Star recently with my dad.
It's pretty awesome.
I really like the characters, and how the plot just jumps right in at first instead of Fullmetal Alchemist's half-season of exposition.

On my own I'm giving Desert Punk a shot, and it's a little odd, but pretty fun, and the fact that Kanta is a complete and total bastard a good deal of the time is interesting, instead of being a complete Mary-Sue, like he could be.

Im not into One Piece, I never thought it was very piraty, but im a Naruto fan (a manga about a bright orange ninja) so what do I know, but what 4kids did to One Piece was bloody bad and just generally insulting to everyone. Source material and veiwers alike.

*Something something, Clannad.*
*Blah blah, Welcome to the NHK.*
Death note, Code geass, Angel beats, FLCL, Cowboy bebop, Baccano, The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Azumanga daioh, Tengen toppa gurren lagann, Steins; gate, Panty and Stocking.

*Meaningless babble about how anime is superior to the stuff that baka gaijins watch*

Watch Clannad though. Just do it.

Wait, so I'm a dumbass round eyed person for watching Batman? I kid I kid. Though I do agree that these threads are always so vague and lack much discussion value that hasn't been done before.

There's not a lot of anime that I'm willing to watch. Gurren Lagann, Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, and Darker Than Black are probably the only shows I've ever liked enough to watch more than once.

I'm trying to watch Clannad because I've heard so many good things about it. I'm on episode 10 and god damn, I've never watched a more boring show. maybe I'm missing something here, I don't know. I still plan on finishing it in hopes it'll get better.

Step 1: Wikipedia "Yuki Kajiura"
Step 2: Select a random anime equal to or newer than Noir or .Hack//Sign
Step 3: ??? While listening to amazing music
Step 4: Possibly profit.

Noir, .Hack//Sign, Pandora Hearts and Puella Magi Madoka Magica definitely recommended, though the former 2 are slow, particularly .Hack//Sign, which has effectively no action scenes.

I started enjoying Naruto again when Sasuke got his ass handed to him by the various Kage's.

I'm glad the manga is focused on them at the moment.

Other than that, I got quite the backlog to watch, but as of now, I don't think I have to bandwidth. Maybe next month.

Morita-san Wa Mukuchi is a pretty random anime, as each episode is only 3 minutes long. Think of it as a cutesier, shorter version of Azumanga Daioh.

...If someone doesn't know what Naruto is, I'd question how they got onto the internet to be honest.

Yup. It doesn't have the deep plot and meaningful character development that Naruto has.

The really good parts of Clannad don't come until After story.
The first season is very slow paced and all though. My tip is just to try to embrace the docile nature of the show. The good parts to come do sort of rely on you having come to like the characters.

Don't worry though. I, too, found the first episodes of Clannad somewhat tiresome: but if you learn to like it for what it is, it might just change your world by the end of after story.

Naruto, go ahead anime hipsters light me on fire. I think its has a great story, relatable characters, great action scenes, and great sayings. I would also recomend fairy tale, for its fight scenes, story, and random humor. (My avatar is Zancrow from Fairy Tale, that's how much I love it.)

I really don't get what you mean, if your not interested in anime at all I wouldn't be surprised if people didn't know what it is.

It would make more sense if you said dragon ball... it's ove... I won't XD

I am not keen on Naruto, the big hype about fights after Gaara and Rock Lee really felt like they failed.
Rock Lee and Gaara by far one of the best fight scenes ever, but anything after that falls into the 3 episodes of talking about each others feelings with a rare punch or kick involved, all the while stuff with spin off filler.

It's really the second season that everyone remembers it for (for me it was the movie). Although, if you're not enjoying the first season at all then you probably won't enjoy the second season, especially considering the list of anime you have above (although I'm the lucky kind of person that can enjoy both Clannad and other anime like the ones in that list) it's not surprising you find it boring.

You might want to give up on it now or just watch the movie (the animation is garbage though and the story actually ends differently)

To be honest, I don't see why people get so riled up about that show.
I really enjoyed it when I watched it, but I didn't do so under some pretense that it was a horribly deep and emotional story.
I found it suitably dramatic and dark, and the plot was sufficiently engaging.
I don't recommend it in anime threads anymore though, since it invariably causes all the people who think something can't be art if it contains fanservice and all the guys who think the show is far deeper a work than it is to break out into an instant heated debate regarding how great/pretentious Elfen lied is.

I have a frothing hatred of One Piece and Naruto, Bleach not so much as I haven't actually seen it yet.
Personally, my favorites were: Monster, Jin-Roh, Noir, Gundam 00, Fate/Zero atm, Evangelion, Code Geass, Last Exile and Serial Experiments: Lain. I did watch Akira and despite being a massive cyberpunk fan and later a big fan of the manga, I felt the anime was lacking.
