Both of my tailored recommendations have been said, but...
For mindfuckery (since you've already seen Death Note), I'd recommend Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
If you prefer character development with some lesser mindfuckery (GitS:SAC has very little character development), Planetes.
...
for a recommendation that I give everyone (though the series really isn't a mindfuck, it's just a lot of fun along with commentary on what an "action hero" would really be, psychologically): Black Lagoon.
Code Geass, TT Gurren Lagann, and Darker than Black get my vote. I would recommend what I just watched, but Clannad doesn't really fit with what you've got.
Blood+(spelled out Blood Plus most of the time)is Good and has a young girl fighting of super vampires with her vampire boyfriend ashadowy government agent, his wisecrackin' Jamaciin side kick, and her two brothers.
-Yu-Gi-Oh and by extension, Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged.
-Pokemon
-Digimon (that's an anime right? I'm not an amime fan so I don't know what is anime and what isn't a cartoon show )
-Cardcaptor Sakura (seriously, why hasn't anyone said this yet?)
All of the above I have full sets of on DVD, except pokemon obviously as it is still running, but I have up to series 11 I think and all the movies so far.
hm... idk much about mindfuck anime... but if you want a good laugh, I'd suggest Yu Gi Oh The Abridged Series, Naruto The Abridged Series, Dragonball Z The Abridged Series, and/or Sgt Frog (the english dub, trust me, Keroro's JP voice is like nails made of babies being scraped on a chalkboard of Justin Bieber CDs...)
