I hate to be really cheesy but "It's the end of the world as we know it, I feel fine!" Okay so what this is about is sometimes I talk to my friend's grandmother she always says "you should get with a church now, it's the end times" or something along those lines. Just so you know, my friend's is extremely religious and even has parts of the bible highlighted (specifically the parts where it says having sex with a person of the same sex is a sin) Now I'm sure this has lots of discussion value but I'm terrible at making topics, so what I ask you fine folks is, are there really any signs that this is the "end times"?

Palin for president in 2012 is enough of a sign for me.

Wait, there's sections in the bible that directly address homosexuality? I thought they just disapproved of entering the backdoor.

Nope, no signs, just people freaking out, like every other time in history.
Some things never change. One person panics loud enough, and everyone else panics.
Scream "Fire!", and people run from the building. Scream "The end is nigh!", and if they are gullible enough, people will believe.

Is this the Mayan doomsday theory your talking about?

If so, err, no, none that i can think of.

Sorry I cant elaborate but we seem to have the same amount of shit happen that there was 10, 20, or 30 years ago, so no. As for your friend, just wait until two years to prove he and his grandmother a wrong. Im not exactly religious but the reverend at my church thinks its BS, so it works for me.

No there actually is, right next to saying that if your children disrespect you, you kill them. :p

No it's not 2012, my friend's grandmother just thinks it's the end times because.....actually I dont know why, I think she just believes that parts of the bible (specifically the end) are "coming true"

No offense to you, your friend, or his grandmother, but if you think its the end because you think its the end, then thats just utterly retarted. Oh well, who knows.

Yeah well as long as we have these guys it's all good. Yes I know one of these guys didn't directly fight zombies.

It's not the end of times. Well for some it is anyway...

There is NO Mayan doomsday theory.

The calender simply comes to an end, no reason has ever been given why... but there is plenty of stupid supposition.

Well okay, but I just have one question. The guy with the syringe in the first video... Was he going after some Zydrate there? Zydrate comes in a little glass vial.

You make me sad. There is so much fun to be had with all that and you're not allowed? For shame...

I don't think so. The tensions and problems of the world are grand, yes but they're all caused by actual people in the world, nothing biblical or divine. So it seems like a moot point to me. All the problems we have today, we caused in some chain of events or form. x.x
yeah, she also thinks that all these natural disasters are the cause of Satan

People have been saying that we're living in the end times for 2000 years now. I'm pretty sure that there's a passage in the bible that says we won't know when it's going to happen, and while there are signs listed in Daniel and in Revelations, they're so vague and heavily couched in symbolism that they can be applied to pretty much any major crisis. That hasn't stopped people from claiming we're in the end times, or unscrupulous con men from trying to profit off of people's fears of the tribulation -- I once tuned into the Christian channel while channel surfing and came across some guy selling oil drums filled with soup stock, so that people will be better able to live through the end times -- which has all kinds of theological problems, the guy was on a "Christian" channel preying on people's ignorance of their own religion.

Long story short: Theologically speaking, we won't know when the end times are actually coming. That hasn't stopped people from looking at prophecies of the end times, seeing vague parallels to things that are currently happening, and assuming we are there now.
