It's rigid and can fit snugly in my pants.

My trusty combat knife of course!
and a lever action rifle.
maybe a portal gun for when things go tits up and I need to get out of there in a pinch.

Magnum from Halo CE. That thing is a beast. One headshot and they're down, plus a 2x scope.

And I don't really need anything else for fighting, so I'll take a portal gun and the hammer from RF: Guerrilla.

Three weapons from a video game? That's everything and then some. I'm taking Mjolnir from the Thor games, due to becoming the invulnerable god of thunder and the many powers that come with, I'm taking the portal gun, for shits and giggles, and I'm taking the energy sword from Halo to look like a complete badass.

A semiautomatic rifle would be first on my list, like the rifles that the U.S. Army carries. M4 I think. Second would be a desert eagle for close quarters engagement. Finally, for melee combat as it were, a single-handed broadsword would be best, maybe a basket-hilt claymore. It's a good cut-and-thrust sword, is single-handed and could go through a zombie in a single stroke. Something a little shorter might be better, though.

Jak III - Rifle with the Reflector Mod attached. (Multiple hits, nuff said.)
Team Fortress 2 - Force-A-Nature. (Knockback and increased pellets? Hell yes.)
Mass Effect 2 - M-920 Cain. (It's a damn mini-nuke, need I say more?)

But the rocket launcher is heat-seeking and doesn't require charging.

1. Aerondight (The Witcher 2)
2. Bolt Pistol
3. Bolt-Action Rifle
Slice 'em up in melee (and if the internal game logic remains intact, silver swords are more effective against monsters and the undead), blow their heads off from afar

Barrett M82A1: take out several zombies with each shot
Benelli M1014: what zombie apocalypse is complete without a shotgun?
Beretta M9: low recoil, 9mm hollow points are perfectly capable of destroying a brain

1. The Terrible Shotgun
2. Masamune
3. Wing Zero (there are Gundam video games)

The last on basically voids any need of the first two, but I like to have options.

Machete
Axe
Crowbar

All you need to survive, simple, effective, and have utility of some description. It would likely be easier to name what games don't have these in some form or another. >.>
