Secret of Mana is really, really good. definitely worth a try.

You might also look out for the following games (provided they're PAL): Sparkster, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Disney's Alladin (way better than you'd think), and Killer Instict (one of the first 3D fighters ever!... well, 3D ish). Oh not to mention: Donkey Kong Country!

I'm not too much of a fan of RPGs, but I actually quite lke the look of the gameplay mechanics of that game - it's quite peaked my interest!

However, I absolutely MUST get Super Mario Kart, one of my earliest gaming memories... I'm also pretty certain I've played Donkey Kong Country at some point.

That depends on his altitude really, and on wether or not he is moving because angle of approach would really impact on the time and pattern of splash. It also depends on wether or not we are assunming that he is going to incinerate upon re-entry.
