In the second game, they skewed the game horribly with regards to the effect of the paragon/renegade system on dialogue.

the Miranda/Jack, Tali/Legion options do not actually depend on the level of the bars, but the % of possible points you have up to that point. I think the number is 70%. So you need to have accumulated 70% of all possible paragon/renegade points throughout the whole game up to there. Why can't I have a Shepard who knows when diplomacy will work, but is not afraid to make a seasoned merc wet himself? Making it so black and white is probably my biggest problem with the games.

Closely locking the p/r system with dialogue options was a terrible move. It broke the immersion of every choice in the game in consequent playthoughs; you always thought "is this going to give me enough points to do X later on?".

Anyway, if I ignore the glaring problems, I tend to play renegade in most dialogue choices because the paragon dialogue choices are nearly always cringeworthy in how Shepard will try to please everyone when, frankly, they and their entire planet can die if it means defeating the Reapers, and I have better things to do than help some indecisive Asari with her love life, but will mostly take the 'paragon' option in major decisions. Because the renegade options aren't really renegade, they are 'homicidal maniac' options. In ME2, party dialogue evolves from suspicious, to neutral, to nice.

I always ctrl/c before posting, have had too many large posts eaten up by the Escapist forum monster to risk it anymore!

That was not on my clipboard, that was there to express my dismay at having an empty clipboard.

You see, when Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down the pirates don't eat the tourists.

"Ichthyphelia"

Researching ridiculosity, developed the term to describe some mistranslation where someone said "I will proceed to pleasure myself with this fish" and I wanted to know if it was a real word.
