Seeing as I've never preformed "favors" for money to buy games, I've never had to go to some shady dealer out on the street to get them, and I've never heard of getting arrested for buying or selling video games (and I've done both) I'm going to have to say no, they are not as bad as Heroin.

Wow, there's a big differance! Though, in some small cases I guess you can say it is; wasn't there a Korean guy who dies as he played games for too long and didn't go for food or drink? But in the vast, vast majority of people gaming is not nearly as bad as Heroin!

Well, reading through this thread I learned one AND ONLY ONE thing: Despite years of our claiming(sp?) the contrary, video games are infact making us violent.
Going on the presumption that the OP just ignored her, he did the right thing. Some of the snarky one liners people have posted are Ok too.
Because gaming seems to be the "Cool thing" to target right now, gamers should just ignore these and let it all blow over.
