For the origional poster, because I think I've seen all the humerous replies now and reading through seriousness gets me down when I have to right up a news article later for my site. Yeah video games can be as bad as heroin but they're far more controllable, and again far more mentally helpful, beating a friend on Warcraft 3 has really boosted my confidence inside and outside of the computer, I've been thoroughly addicted to games, and I can assure you, it's nothing like heroin not that I've tried it. I went threw a six month phase of playing World of Warcraft all day, only stopping to get food and bring it to my desk. I was pretty much freaking nocturnal. Difference is though, you can beat video games in a less literal sense. Personally, my view is they're good for as they can boost your confidence, and a lot of people who try to hide in a virtual world may have low self esteam.

And for the bloke who said ignorance should be punished by death, I dissagree, it should be punished by forcing them into what they're ignorant about. Only then can people see what it's really like and all the nonesense they've been spewing.

While on a long bus ride back from college today, i took out my DS nd started up a game of Spirit Tracks. The women who was sitting looked over at what i was done and said, "Oh those stuipd things, there just as bad as heroin". Really? that bad? ive heard some people bad mouth games before, but never like that, anyone ever heard anything along the same lines or worse?

I often find myself pawning my mothers jewelry so that i can get my next fix or pokemon color and have been known to prostitute in exchange for microsoft points.

So yea... i guess it is as bad as heroin.

Speaking of which have any of you tried melting down your copy of bayonetta and injecting it into your arm with a hypodermic needle... its quite the trip.
