HELLO, people, read before you post, this thread is dead, this guy, "Aura Guardian" ended it, apparently (if you would stop being so stingy and click on his link) he made a thread so similar to this, its as if the OP of this thread did not use the search function at all, I suggest this new fuss and conversation be moved to his thread, if you cant see the link in the quote or something, here it is ONCE MORE.

You can say what you want of the interfaces, but you *cannot* argue that the new sounds aren't leaps and bounds better. That alone got me to go to beta, so this is no news to me.

God I hated the old message notification...

My steam updated but I havnt turned it on and off yet so I guess I will have to take a look.

Okay I just peaked at it and I dont know its not bad. I liked my game list better but I guess I prefered the minimalist approach. So meh something to get used to.

I'm pretty sure it went official [http://store.steampowered.com/news/3753/] as of today [http://store.steampowered.com/].

I rather like it. It's certainly much more attractive than before, they just need to increase its performance a tad.

It is official.
It was an automatic update this morning.

Did they add a games list that's closer to the existing one? ie, shows your Favorites, Installed, and Not Installed all in one easy-to-read view?

Honestly until they redo it, I'm sticking with the original as long as I can. No Web Designer would make a site as flashy and useless as this, much less a program. There are one or two features I appreciate, like seeing who owns a certain game, but the rest of it is just really annoying.

Huh.
Indeed.

Honestly, they didn't change much. It's rather anti-climactic. However, it isn't as ugly as before, so that's a plus.

The "Library" page is way too cluttered (Yes, even using the list view. Is there anyway to make the icons smaller, or make it look like the Tools page?). And the use of the word library seems really pretentious. I don't like the store layout either, but that doesn't matter much. I only really go there when I know what I am looking for.

It is pretty, but I liked the simple look much better. Oh well, I guess I'll get used to it.

ETA: I mean, it's not like manpower that could have been used on HL2:EP3 was used on this, right? RIGHT?

I like it. It's new and futuristic, like you said, which I like. The old Steam was a tad bit ugly.
If by "tad" you mean "makes your eyes bleed" then I agree.
agreed.

people are just being too nostalgic about it, the new steam is much more user friendly and its much faster to do multiple things on there

p.s. did i say how ugly and 16 bit era it was looking? it actually looks very professional and modernized

I think it looks really cool. I didn't mind the old layout but I think they improved it a lot.

I really like the new layout, its organized a bit more appealing and professional looking. Don't fear change, it happens sometimes.

I haven't tried it yet myself but I hear you. I like the old version. It's small and properly doesn't suck up alot of memory. I suppose from a business standpoint a flashier shell makes some sense though and I really like steam and want to see it continue in the future.
