As people have already said about Planetside, I love a bit of occasional banter.

Not playground style pathetic insults just general light hearted mocking that adds a bit of humour to the downtime between battles.

It's nice to have a bit of friendly banter every now and then without anyone being a prick about things.

anyway! yeah the legue community (in fact dota and hon are no better) is fucking horrendous. I would go as far as to say worse than old school CS days. For those that used to play old school CS you knoooow what i'm talking about T-T.

So don't worry about it just mute the fool next time, or take it on the chin and ignore him don't let some retard put you off the game by the sounds of you it didn't so all is good.

I also tend to find the people who have the biggest mouths in these games are never that good, as they always blame others rather than looking on how to improve their own play.

I sort of don't like playing with him althou he's a great guy IRL
I usually just ignore it if they comment me and if they comment someone else I usually throw in
"stop flaming each other, we need to stick as a team to win this, just play and do your own part of the job"

My server of choice in TF2 doesn't get people like that very often, being that it's a 12 player server and is usually mostly full of regulars but every once in awhile while i'm playing in it with 2 or 3 of my friends one of these little blisters turns up.
I won't lie, sometimes i get a little mad. One time i had to leave because i was in danger of getting banned for mouthing off to an admin, and my temper was getting out of control. I'm not proud, but now a-days I try to remain calm, and just sort of laugh it off. But then they break out the gunslinger. . .
I say things i regret.

Was playing some DOOM 3 Multiplayer on XBOX LIVE and I was winning every round. Eventually some other guy joined and he was pretty good too, he generally came second. After around the third match I beat him in he put on his team speak and it became apparent that he was a very shouty black man. Next match, everytime he was killed he'd say stuff like "Damn it, I shot you! Lay the fuck down!" or "Yo, man, you see dat shit, I fucking shot his ass!" and would gloat for ages after each kill. He was the most stereotypical black guy I've ever encountered...

Oh, and once while playing Halo 3 way back when, I encountered 2 kids who must've been 9, maybe 10, who started signing about how bad ass they were and that they were gonna kill me. Trouble was, it was a team game, and I was on the same team as them and... They team killed me, bragged about it and teabagged me. When I, using my ninja grenade skillz, got them back the little shits booted me from the game...

Well, I started on league pretty early when there were only US servers.
I used a user name i commonly took when playing online games.
God the bastards tended to piss me of real hard. sometimes they made me sad, often insecure.
but well, I got better the longer I played and eventually, i stopped giving a fuck.

All the slants they throw your way just because you`re having a bad match, lose your lane or get counter-jungled hard. I don't know. I just came to ignore them completely. Most stuff that's said is bullshit anyway.

"you never gank. we've been ganked 80 times by amumu". - Well.. ward the fucking lane you dumbass and play defensive.
"omg why don't you attack when I gank" - Well because I had no mana and twelve fucking hp.
"omg u suck" - yeah, i know, this isn't going too well - "omg this guy is retarded" - yeah. i get it. - "fuck this guy report this fkcuing feeder" - we get it, you can stop now. - "i hope your mother gets cancer you retard fuckhead" - yeah. this guy... real sunshine

They're trying to make you feel bad about yourself, provoke you, bully you. Not giving a damn seems to be the best solution to me.

Now, where was I. So, I created a new account on the european servers, chose "Blahwhatever" as a username and made the name my credo for this game. "To never give a fuck about anything ever says in the game"

Me and two of friends are quite calm bunch and only whine about our team in our own mumble channel.
But when the silly fella starts to thrash one of us... well he just launched 3 man counter troll squad.
We change our style to good ol' gentleman talk and troll the shit out of the poor one who just realised he has been playing with usually decent 3 man pre.
This counts all sorts of games.

I've never really experienced it personally. I've seen it in action however when I was playing Gears of War multiplayer for the first time. I've got no idea what it was about, but every time it went to the lobby, this one guy would flip his shit at another one of the players. The guy was raging so hard he couldn't form words and was coming out with this stream of jumbled insults. Seriously he was struggling to breath. The guy it was directed at sounded really meek and wasn't enjoying it one bit. Prop to the guy however, he kept on playing, even though the dick was on the same team as him. Must have gone on for 20 games or so before I quit playing.

i've never ran into them. i possess enough third party information to successfully avoid them. i simply don't play games that require such immediate intimate relations with other players. when i do play a game that requires me to interact with those creatures, i avoid it as long as possible, and never until i optimize my role proficiency.

I have started employing a new tactic on LoL to deal with trolls and ragers. I recently started playing Planetside 2 and I really got into the banter than happens between the zergs so when I have someone raging I usually counter this with an in depth explanation of why they are pathetic rebel NC scum who are so weak they would have trouble fighting the spandex wearing Vanu sissies unlike a true Terran man.

This works wonders if they know what im talking about and if they don't then they just get confused and start spewing even more rage and bile.
It doesn't really shut them up but it does make the game a lot more entertaining.

I find it ironic that Planetside 2's faction-pride doesn't result in a person becoming a dick about it, I find it rather charming, whereas pride in LoL results in the player becoming a douche(most of the time)

Yeah the NC won't go quietly into the night, they will go with girly screams of defeat accompanied by our mocking victorious laughter and you will have the freedom to choose whether you get buried or cremated. FOR TERRA!


I always get annoyed with the ****talking in LoL but find it hilarious in PS2, I assume it's because I know people are kidding in PS2 while in LoL I know they are actually serious about the crap they spout. I haven't seen anyone be a dick about their faction in PS2 outside of playful semi serious banter but in league people will endlessly whine if you don't carry them through the whole game every match. I've seen people whine about the jungler not going bot when it's warded to hell and he has been counterjungled hard and is behind on levels, it's pretty bad how little some people understand the game too.

Today, I decided to try out Kennen, I wasn't entirely sure about him, after all, I absolutely suck as Akali and Shen, and I was convinced that the "ninja squadron" characters weren't for me.

Nonetheless, I thought It'd be fun to try him out, as I have a preference for all lightning-oriented characters in video-games, suffice to say, the match did not go well: I was up against ziggs, and my MS was painfully slow, I got poked a lot & died often during the mid game.

At around the 12:00 mark, Pantheon started projecting via chat, with the usual selection of CoD kiddie comments, when I called him out on it(I inquired if he's 12, I shouldn't have gotten myself involved, but anger took over), he barraged me with continuous insults, but it didn't affect me, due to the reason that I quite clearly had intelligence superiority.

I'm not hurt, or pissed or anything, I just wanted to know when was your first encounter with the douches of a gaming community(this was my first time), and how do you deal with it ingame, ie, what are your favourite comebacks(yes, I know, don't feed the troll, but we sometimes want to indulge in an attempt to beat the stupid out of cod kiddies)

Jokes aside, I only get a bad game every once in awhile. When one player is particularly a pain, I just report them at the end of the match. Better the tribunal deal with them than me.

I've only really had this sort of thing annoy me on XBL, GearsOfWar2. We were playing the usual 4v4 match, and I was the only player on my team left, I killed 3 of the opposing team and got killed by the last one. The problem is that when you die in GOW you spectate, and I had to listen to my own team ridicule my efforts. I thought it was pretty rich, being the only team member to kill anyone, I carried the team from whitewash to nearly winning, and still had some douchebag pre-teen take the piss. I just switched off and played something else after that, luckily I was hosting so I got the last laugh.

I had the same experience about a week ago, with the same champions and everything. I didn't fed the troll though. He persisted to insult me, however my team jumped in to defend me. He was up top doing awful, it was ridiculous that he was insulting me so damn much when he couldn't play up there.

It has been quite sometime since my first round with gaming stupidity, I don't think I can recall the first time, but I can tell you about a more recent encounter.

When you play as support, everyone blames everything on you if it is going bad, but no one give you any credit when things go right. I am ok with this. As a main support, I view it as part of the job. Sometimes people need a place to vent, and as the support I am ok if they throw insults at me. But sometimes it can get annoying. If you catch me on a bad day and you are particularly venomous I might just push back.

A month or so ago I was playing LOL as the support with 3 of my friends. We had a really poor mid player who was constantly getting caught, and every time he did he would blame it on me for not warding, even when that made no sense. After about the seventh death, each followed by a sting of profanity, I decided I wasn't going to take his crap anymore. So I said "Sorry, I will try to ward better," sold all my gear (except boots) and got 25 wards. My 3 friends I was playing with all did the same.

We proceeded to ward every inch of the entire map. The most difficult part was warding behind the enemy nexus, but we got it after a while. Our team fight strategy was to place wards at the feet of the enemy. When the mid player asked what we were doing, we would innocently respond "But you said we needed more wards. We are just trying to help. Are we doing it wrong?"

The moral of the story is that you don't have to stoop to their level to counter troll. You never need to swear or show your anger. Get creative and have fun with your counter trolling, but act responsibly. Only counter troll those who deserve it. Above all, cheerfulness is your greatest weapon. Nothing angers the internet morons more than their failure to drag you down to their level.
