well i'd have to say the first i started to truly love games was either playing pokemon gold or rayman the great escape althought the first level in rayman had a stupidly hard jump which stoped me progressing for quite a while.
You don't say? Mine started with a Pokemon game too. T'was pokemon yellow and is probably the main reason of my rapidly deteriorating eyesight, but there you go.

Same! I now can barely see if I'm not wearing my distance glasses.

I got hooked on the junk when i was 5....i would NOT touch the controller but i relentlessly forced my mom to play Tomb Raider 2 while i sat and watched/helped. 11 years later i can beat a tomb raider in a heartbeat, and i hog the controller like it's a life support system....ah to grow up is nice :)

Umm, why does this need a discussion? Just nice to let others know sometimes. If you're gonna shout out about something like this, then this is one of the very few sites that people will probably pat you on the back instead of give you queer looks.

Good for you supermole, but prehaps you could say what made you just realised then this could turn into a flashback forum (i.e. where everyone goes back to when they first realised. Ahh, nostalgia kicking in... aaah...)

Now I love you, both those games are masterpieces and yes I remember that STUPID jump in Rayman. Cyber high-five!

This thread is much better than all the threads saying how some game isn't as good as people think it is or asking people to list which games suck in some way or other.

This is a better thread than most on this forum.

Also on topic, I've just realized playing for high scores after beating the game can be fun for me. It just took the right games (most games are not really designed to be fun to play for score) and the appropriate level of player skill compared to the game's difficulty (or vice versa). This after 15+ years of gaming and not caring about score.

i must admit achievements have ruin my gaming experience somewhat due to nobody just playing games for the fun of it anymore

So, you made a thread to tell us how much you love gaming, without actually calling for a response or discussion. What's the point?

Honestly, you post that and expect to not recieve replies like mine? Fuck, I hate you. Why the hell do you have to be such a dipshit? And I believe a question mark was supposed to come after 'again', not a period you illiterate trailer trash scum.
Jesus Christ, calm the feck down. It's stuff like that that'll get you banned.

Ah, gaming has been quite the majority of my life. It's both the salvation and bane of my mother's existence as well as the source of the leak in my wallet. But well worth it.

It's what made me meet most of my friends and is a sort of dream job in the back of my mind that the front knows damn well would never happen whether it be designing, creating, or playing them for a living. Alas.

I first got into gaming with Super Mario Bros. where, as a 6 year old, I could not get past level 8-3 (and neither could my father). It later had a spectacular rebirth when my cousin introduced me to Pokemon Yellow where it evolved into the clusterfuck it's become today. I now own a Wii, 2 N64s, a Playstation 2, a Gamecube, and a well used SNES that sits alongside my old original Nintendo. But these are only my televison consoles. I also own a GBC, two GBAs, an SP, a DS Lite, and a DSi.

Lord knows the thousands of dollars in games I have spent.

But again, all very well worth it.
