Some people are dicks. Hate those people, not humanity.
It is in our nature to be dicks.
You're only saying that because you're 'in love' with a cartoon dog so people (rightly) stigmatize you.

Humanity is great.

QED.

However, I believe he said he was disappointed in humanity, not that he hated it. And humanity is pretty pathetic when you think about it.
Then he must be disappointed in the people who wronged him, not the entire population. See, I tend to get annoyed when people start saying that humanity are a bunch are a bunch of scum, because that would include all the genuinely good people out there. Generalisations are bad - no exceptions.

Well I try not to assume the worst of people before I've even dealt with them.

Well I was just saying something I thought would sound funny. Perhaps saying "some people are dicks" or "certain people are dicks from time to time" would be more correct, but it wouldn't quite have the same impact.

Nonetheless, I'm much more interested in hearing you explain why you think I deserve to be "stigmatized" for loving an animated dog. Sounds a bit harsh doesn't it?

Get over yourself.

You got trolled and took it seriously, that's akin to those retards calling little toy guns that action figures hold "Weapon Replicas" and preventing people from bringing them on planes. If anything, you're the one that *we* should be disappointed in.

Wow! Why are people reacting so negatively to misantrophy all of a sudden? I thought this was an internet forum...

Indeed, generalizations are bad, but they can help you out when dealing with people. That's why I assume everyone is going to be an asshole because most people are. If you assume that the next guy you meet is going to be a complete asshole to you, and he isn't then you aren't disappointed, you are only impressed that he isn't.

Setting yourself up for disappointment, just so you know. I truly liked most people once. Every now and then I found someone who was a complete jerk for no reason. Then I learned that everyone is going to be like that, and if they aren't then you can only be impressed.

I present: Exhibit A

The fact that you can be infatuated with something that doesn't even exist is proof enough that people can become so obsessed with their media that they are capable directing passion towards some imaginary whelp. Get a girlfriend.

You're a creep.
You see, by assuming he was going to be a jerk and start immediately insulting someone for their preferences (also, notice that he has no reason to resort to insults, if you look at his previous post in this topic), I am not disappointed by it. Now if i assumed he would talk it out like a 'normal person' I would be thoroughly disappointed by his attitude.

So what did the other 6.5 billion people do to you?
Because we tend to think of people in large categories (that is people we know and people we do not know), when you are suddenly faced with something that can be used to characterize one of these abstract groups it tends to stick. This is especially common when said group is comprised of people who have no real means to dissuade you of such a notion

After coming back from a memorial service from one of my good friends and another person, both who passed away last sunday, I looked at the "in Memory of" facebook page and found out it was being spammed with racist comments by people with false names. It got so bad that the page had to be removed.

I mean who does hell stuff like this? I just don't get it, I've never wanted to find out who someone is so badly.

I think it's terrible, anyone have any opinions on this?
You shouldn't have reported it.

If you had left it up you could have found out the address the posts were made from. For around 50 bucks. If you know where to go and who to ask.

It wouldn't be the first time. I've made sure someone gets what's coming. Karma is too slow for me.

Humanity consistently produces great people who push the species forward. That every member is not so extraordinary is irrelevant; that we so regularly, as a species produce such people however is.

A creep? Now, I know you can behave better than that if you try to!

Funny you should say that. I've had several girlfriends, as written in my first thread. In fact, I had a girlfriend the time I first discovered Bolt. I?m simply not attracted to human beings.

Misanthropy is just people who jump at every chance they can to spill doom, gloom, and despair all over everyone else like a diaper full of #7 on the Bristol Stool Chart.

I remember thinking like that when I was...15? In comparison, most people still don't know how to use their/there/they're at 15. It's kind of childish and pathetic, and needs to be labelled such.

I have never understood this.

To me the anonymity that the internet offers is like a bulletproof vest, and engaging in trolling or anything else for that matter is like entering a shoot-out.

People that choose not to use a bulletproof vest aren't brave, they're stupid, and people who make use of the of what the internet provides aren't cowards, they're smart.
people who just comment on funerals to piss off the grieving are cowards...sorry man. It's a dick thing to do. And pointless.

Trolling for fun is one thing, trolling people you don't know who are dead or dying? That's a damn coward if they can't show up to the funeral and declare their hatred for the corpse.

No it is not, we are over 6 billion, there's bound to be great people produced regularly, but for every worth while human being there's a million marginally useful assholes.
There are untold trillions of ants and yet you never see them doing extraordinary things. There are millions of fish and dogs and cats. There are millions of monkeys and horses and cows. That humanity consistently produces such extraordinary examples makes us special with respect to everything that has ever lived on this planet that we have any knowledge of. Sure, the vast majority of humanity could be described as "marginally useful" but thanks to that non zero number of exceptional individuals we have accomplished more than any other species we have ever encountered.

Does that mean I get to take credit for the space race or some other accomplishment? Only in the sense that it was accomplished by humanity, which I am a member of. A loose association to be sure but I'd rather take that than say the sum total of zero notable accomplishments of cows.

Anyone noticed? Studies have shown that nothing brings people together like hate. Amazing how people are brought together when they have a common enemy. Let us thank trolls for giving us something to hate.

And to those disappointed in humanity because they ruin facebook memorial pages- Really? That's all it took? There are really worse reasons to be mad at humanity.

Besides, if you really wanted to memorialize a person? Go to a newspaper while they are still around. Last longer, be kept in records, and people can only deface one at a time.
